Lavender basically pushed Adeline down the spiral staircase leading to the common room. When Adeline tripped into the common room, she looked around in awe. Her curly haired friend definitely did loads of work to make this happen.
There were flashing lights in every colour dancing around the room as if it were a club; all of the couches were pushed to corners or against the walls so there was more room to gather in the middle of the floor; the cherrywood table that she and her other fellow Gryffindor's studied at was draped in an all too fitting red tablecloth and filled up with a large punch bowl and cups; and there was music blasting all throughout the room. There were people dancing everywhere.
She looked towards Lavender with shock blaring in her eyes. "Lav, this is wonderful!"
"I know," Lavender squealed. She took Adeline's hand, pulling her into the crowd. She felt eyes on her. A lot of eyes. "I can't believe you're finally at a party! You never come to these."
Adeline felt a small smile pull at her red painted lips. "I have you to thank for that."
"I still have to show you the ropes," Lavender insisted. "This is the punch table, though I already laced it with 2 full bottles of Fire Whiskey. I also have more hidden in the back if you want some," Lavender looked around her room, biting her lip hesitantly. "There are Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, but no Slytherins yet. Umm, also don't hold back. You need fun, Addy. You need to experience normal 16 year old shite."
"As you keep mentioning." Adeline murmured.
"Yes! See? You get it. Oh, there's Parvati. I'll see you later, yes?" Lavender asked, giving Adeline a peck on the cheek before leaving her before she could give an answer.
She recognized the song playing as a song by the Muggle band Fred and George told her about, Queen. The song was one the twins played a lot. If she wasn't mistaken, it was called 'Killer Queen.' She rather liked it.
She drove through the crowd, looking for a familiar face. Her wand was upstairs in her dorm, and the close proximity of everyone made her feel as though she needed it. The whole idea of her being defenceless was terrifying. Yet, she still made her way through the loads of people, murmuring apologies to those she accidentally bumped into.
When she finally spotted a familiar face, she gasped and ran towards him with the biggest smile on her face. "Neville!"
Neville turned towards Adeline as she ran towards him and engulfed him in the biggest hug she could muster. He smelt like sun, pine trees, and the tiniest bit of cologne. He hugged her back right away. Adeline knew he was with Seamus and Dean, but she didn't care. She missed him so much. It felt like so much was taken off her shoulders at the sight of him.
"Addy," he breathed. Adeline pulled away from him and smiled widely. "You're at a party?"
"Lavender forced me." She replied.
His eyes skimmed her body quickly, looking at her dress before meeting her eyes again. A flush filled his cheeks. "You look great."
It was her turn to blush. "Thanks, Nev."
Seamus whistled. "Addy! Look at you go!"
She felt her cheeks turn even more red as her other two friends looked at her with big smiles on their faces. Seamus wasn't catcalling her, she knew that. It was more like a 'Addy, I can't believe you left your room, came to a party, and got ready for it.'
After a couple more minutes with the boys, Adeline began feeling hot with everyone around her. She blurted over the music. "I'm going to get a drink!"
She wanted water since she had never drank Fire Whiskey before. She didn't want to be drunk. But her throat was so itchy and dry. One drink wouldn't hurt, would it?
