"Come on, Derek. He killed your sister."

Mia was back in the basement yet again, listening to Kate interrogating Derek about his uncle. They had been going at it for hours now, with no results.

Kate was wearing him down, though. It was evident in the way his energy had depleted. He was paler than usual, covered in cold sweat, eyes not focusing most of the time. He couldn't even talk back to her anymore.

"Now, either you're not telling me because, well, you want to kill him yourself, or, for some reason, you're protecting him."

Kate pulled out a driver's license from Derek's stuff in the corner. She brought it up to his face, chuckling, "Aw, look at that sour face."

Derek couldn't make eye contact, his head dangling, so she grabbed him by the jaw and forced his head up. "I bet you always used to get people coming up to you, saying 'smile, Derek, why don't you smile more?'. Don't you just wanna kick those people in the face?"

"I can think of one," Derek's reply made both of them freeze. Derek hadn't spoken since last night.

Kate had been taunting him like this for almost an hour. In all that time, Mia hadn't uttered a word. She wanted Derek to betray Peter, but she couldn't participate in whatever sick game her aunt was playing. She already felt guilty enough for bringing Derek here.

"Promise?" Kate seemed to enjoy his response.

"Are you going to torture me, or just talk me to death?"

"Oh, sweetie, I don't wanna torture you," Kate smirked, "I just wanna catch up. Remember all the fun we had together?"

At that moment, Mia's head snapped up, her words catching her attention. She glanced at Derek, but he avoided making eye contact with her.

"What are you talking about?" she asked her aunt.

Kate looked like she had forgotten her niece was in the room. She let out a happy laugh, "Right, I forgot. Derek and I go way back. We have a lot of memories together."

"Like the time you burned my family alive?" Derek gritted out through his teeth, snarling.

Kate smirked, walking closer to him, "I was thinking more about the hot, crazy sex we had. But yeah, the fire thing was fun too."

Mia felt her gut twist in knots at the news. Derek hadn't been back in Beacon Hills for years, and neither had Kate, as far as she knew. When were they together? And how could they have slept together too? They were enemies.

She also couldn't process that Derek had been right - her family was  responsible for the Hale fire. At least Kate was. She had just admitted it.

The girl felt sick to her stomach. She couldn't get the image out of her head, now.

Kate had noticed her reaction. It only made her smile grow more. She made a show up sidling up to Derek face, then licked a long stripe up his stomach. Derek lunged at her as much as the chains would let him, growling. Mia swallowed down her disgust, finally gathering up the courage to put a stop to this.
