Mia dropped Stiles off at his house, stepping back to let him and his father have their moment. She knew the Sheriff was giving her questioning looks, so she just avoided his gaze until he stopped trying to figure out why his son had bruises all over his face, or why he went missing for a little bit. The older man still seemed like he didn't fully trust her, and she couldn't even blame him for that. If she had suddenly found out one of her son's friends could control minds, she wouldn't trust herself either.

"Do you want me to stay with you?" she asked Stiles, but he shook his head immediately.

"I'd rather be alone," he said, "Thanks, though. I really owe you one."

"You don't owe me anything," Mia replied, "Get some rest. I'll see you later, yeah?"

Afterwards, Mia figured she should probably go back to Derek's house and keep trying to come up with a good enough plan to save Jackson. She doubted she would be much help, but she had to do something to feel useful.

Scott and Isaac were nowhere to be seen, but Derek and Peter were still at the house, glued to a random laptop. Mia let herself in unceremoniously, already knowing both of them heard her before she had entered.

"What are you doing?" she asked, settling down behind Peter to try and see the screen, "Why do you have a laptop here?"

"Argents aren't the only ones who keep records of everything," Peter replied, not sparing her a glance. He was too focused on sifting through a bunch of folders, numbered and titled in a system Mia didn't understand.

"Are you okay?" Derek asked, standing by her side.

"Yeah," she said, not even thinking about it. Answering that question was getting harder and harder each day, it seemed, so it was better to just lie and pretend everything was fine. "Oh, and I found Stiles. He's okay, if either of you care."

"Good," Derek said, "You did well."

Mia startled at the praise, deflecting, "Wasn't that hard anyway. But thanks. So what are you looking for?"

"Something is happening to Jackson's body, so I'm trying to find out what it is," Peter replied. He didn't elaborate further, but then Derek had to ask Scott to describe what he was seeing in the hospital morgue anyway.

"They say he's in some kind of transparent casing made from the venom coming out of his claws," Derek repeated what Scott was telling him over the phone.

"Well that's officially terrifying," Peter quipped.

"They also say he's starting to move."

God. Mia tried her best to not imagine what that must've looked like, but her brain was already creating horrifying images anyway. She really hoped they could somehow save Jackson, but she wasn't sure how she could ever look him in the eyes again after all of this.
