While they were waiting for Derek to get dressed, Mia checked her phone. There was a new message from her father.

'Allison found out about everything. Scott is the second beta. I told Kate to get Allison to Washington ASAP. You need to come home and be careful. I'll explain later.'

She looked up from her phone. Scott was staring at the ground, absolutely defeated. He looked like a sad puppy.

"I'm sorry she found out like this, Scott," she tried her best to comfort him, "I'll try to talk to her when this is all over, okay?"

"I don't think she's going to listen to anyone," he murmured back, then glanced at her. "But thanks."

"Something doesn't feel right," Derek said as soon as they stepped out of the basement and into the woods. He looked around, trying to spot something, or someone. "It's almost–"

"Don't say 'too easy'!" Scott exclaimed suddenly, "People say that and bad things start happening."

"Well–"

"You think finding you was easy? Getting away from Mia's dad? None of this has been easy!"

Derek nodded, humoring the boy, "Fine. You're right."

Scott let out a breath of relief, "Thank you."

Almost immediately after, there was the sound of something whooshing through the air. Seconds later, Derek was on the ground, an arrow piercing his shoulder. The man seemed almost as shocked as the other two, since he barely even made a sound when he dropped.

Mia whipped around to look at the source of the attack. She was expecting Kate, or maybe her dad and his henchmen. What she wasn't expecting was Allison, aiming her bow right at her.

They locked eyes for a second. Mia couldn't believe what she was seeing, and her face probably reflected that, but Allison didn't seem bothered by it. She directed her gaze back at Derek, who was trying to get up, and shot an arrow right to his leg, causing him to fall again.

What disturbed her even more is that Mia knew this technique. She had been taught this just mere months ago. Shoot the shoulder, then the leg, and then–

"Cover your eyes!" she shouted at Scott and dropped to the ground. She expected the younger boy to do the same, but he was frozen in his spot, unmoving. He didn't duck when Allison shot the flash bolt into a tree right next to him, blinding him completely.

"Allison!" Mia called out, removing her sleeve from her eyes. She sat up and tried to locate her sister, "Allison, stop! What are you doing?"

"I knew you weren't loyal, Mia," she heard Kate's voice instead. Allison being here suddenly started making sense. Of course Kate was manipulating her. "Sticking to the dogs even when we gave you another chance."

"You're a fucking psychopath!" Mia snapped back. She wanted to keep talking, keep them distracted as the two werewolves tried to orientate themselves and flee, "Allison, come on, don't listen to her. She's using you."
