"How's the healing going?" Mia asked after what felt like hours of waiting in tense silence. Derek hadn't said a word since she'd stabbed him, probably concentrated on healing himself so he can get them both out of there.

"It's working," he replied laconically, not offering much insight.

Mia sighed, preparing to wait for a while longer, when the whole station dissolved into chaos.

First, there were countless sounds of gunshots in the building. The room they were in was windowless, but Mia could hear windows and furniture breaking in the other rooms, a hail of bullets raining upon them. Then, smoke started wafting into the room, along with the emergency alarm lights and a blaring siren, signaling danger.

The hunters were here.

Mia heard the sheriff yelling out of frustration in his unsuccessful attempt to rip the handcuffs off, or rip the pole they were attached to. Then she felt movement on her right. Derek was slowly getting up from the floor, and then his hands were untying her blindfold. She grimaced, vision filling with too much light too fast.

As she adjusted to seeing again, Derek ripped the handcuffs off her wrists, being mindful of her injury again, and kicked the cell door open, finally freeing them. Mia grabbed both of her daggers, preparing for yet another tiring fight against her family and their goons.

Derek turned around at the doorway, motioning to the sheriff and Melissa. "Stay here. You need to protect them."

As much as Mia wanted to argue and go out to help the others, she knew he was right, so she nodded. "Be careful."

"I know," Derek replied, his eyes flashing a deep red, and then he was gone, leaving her with the two clueless parents.

"Mia?" Melissa grabbed her attention, "What the hell is going on? What are you doing? Is Scott okay?"

She couldn't answer any of those questions, "Mrs. McCall, please, just–"

"Mia," Mr. Stilinski exclaimed, "Someone's here!"

She whipped around to see one of the hunters, a tall, built man, walk into the room. He was holding a rifle. Based on his careless aim and the glint in his eyes, Mia realised he'd come here with the sole mission of killing anyone and everyone in his way.

Before he could pull the trigger, she whispered, eyes aglow, "Stay."

The man froze in place, weapon still aimed at Mia's head. She ducked down just in case, ran up to his frozen body and, in one swoop, slid one of the blades against the back of his knees, effectively incapacitating him by cutting the ligaments. The man fell, folding like paper. Before he could wake up from his daze, she took him by the hair and smashed his face against the ground, knocking him out.
