Chapter 13: Annabel

Eleanor's POV

Greenleaf high.

"Hey, I heard you ran away from home," I say to Dave on the phone.

"Or you just needed some alone time?" my throat became stiff as I tried to speak.

"Well, you missed yesterday completely..." I coughed out loud.

"Hey… let me call you back," I say, cutting the call.

I turn to my side to see Alisa going through her locker. As I cough again, she closes the locker and looks at me. "You okay?" She asks.

"Yup… I'm fine."

I turn and walk away from her. "I know what that is. It's called Dor powder. A kind of powder used by vampires to know when witches are next to them"

I looked over my shoulder to see her following behind me. "Which means she's a vampire," I thought to myself.

I wouldn't have thought there were vampires in this school.

I increased my speed and quickly head to the school's backyard to cut a stake. I put the stake in my pocket and pull out a string, before hiding behind a tree.

As she approaches where I was, I could feel that I was about to cough because of the Dor powder, but I held it in.

Luckily, I cast a spell on myself so that no vampire can sniff out my scent.

She walks past me, not knowing I was behind her. Before she could turn, I tie the string around her neck.

The string burns her neck, due to the spell on it. She screams and tried to pull the string.

I tightened my grip as I hold the rope with one hand while using the other to pull out the stake.

She wasn't giving up. She grabbed my hand before I could stab her. The powder has begun to act up and is making me weak. She swiftly turns and dug her fangs into my neck.

She pulls back and then raises me off my feet and slams me into the tree. I fell to the ground, writhing in pain.

"Shit… you almost had me," she says, touching her now-healed neck.

Alisa picks the stake up and approaches me. "I'm sorry, but I have to do this"

As she knelt to pull me up, I dig my fingers into her eyes. She screams and took some steps back, dropping the wood.

I picked it up and stab it in her chest. She gasps as the life drains out of her.

I lay on the floor gripping the injury on my neck.

A few days later.

Dave's POV

Greenleaf high.

I walk into my next class and took a seat next to Eric. He seems to not even notice me.

The principal walks into the class with a lady in a police uniform, detective Shella, and some other man. Wait… he's not just any man, it's Franklin. The vampire who abducted me.

The principal clears his throat and fixes his glasses. "I'm sure you all know about the inhumane activities that are going on here in Greenleaf high. Well, we are enforcing a detective to watch all activities here" he revealed.

I turn back to see Eleanor's head on her desk, Yael and Ian also whispering to each other. "And also, let's welcome a new teacher"

"Hi… I'm Franklin Euros. I hope we get along well" he says, staring into my soul. I swallowed hard and turned away from him.
