Dave's POV

I pull open the now-repaired refrigerator door and take out a bottle of water. I stared at the blood bag, as the desire raise in me. I shook it off and turn to Eric who is on his phone. "You know stealing this is not helping- at all," I say.

"Well I'm stuck in here all day, I need something to take my mind off things… you really should consider taking some, you're not looking well" he says. "How are you able to walk in the sun without a ring…?"

"Honestly, I don't know," I say, sitting next to him. "How are you holding up?"

He drops his phone face flat on the couch and turned to me. "My dad called, he received a message about my grades and how I've been skipping school… he threatened to bring me back home if I continue," he says.

"I'm sorry… well if it makes you feel any better, my mom called too. Same problem" I say.

"My life is done. Brian was right… and finals are approaching fast, I'm doomed"

I place my hand on his shoulder. "Don't worry Eric, we'll find a way" I say.

The door opens and Brian walked in. "Yup… it's me" he says, looking around the room.

"What are you doing here?… You can't just keep walking in here" Eric says.

He points at Eric. "You turned yourself into a vampire, which means anyone can just walk in here, and it's not my fault you don't lock your doors," he says before turning to me.

"It's Sunday, so get up… I'm gonna teach you everything you need to know about vampires and how to fight maybe"

I shake my head in disapproval. "I'm not going anywhere with you" I refused.

"The faction will soon come after you, probably… and you need to be able to fight them or anyone who wants to fight you precisely, maybe a Herid… cause one bite from a Herid could kill you now, not that it was any different when you were normal," Brian says.

I sighed. "Fine…"

After hours of working out at the gym, Brian and I sit on a bench just next to an ocean. "Okay… You're a vampire now, you'll need blood. When last did you have one?" He asks.

"Not since my outburst"

He squints. "Restricting yourself from having some could kill you… no wonder you're looking like this, and drinking yours won't help- at all" he says. "We'll come back to that later"

"As an original vampire, you can…"

"Wait, wait, wait… I'm an original vampire?… I thought there was only one, which was the statue in that cave right"

He stared blankly at me. "Oh well, you haven't heard…"

"Heard what?…"

"Turns out they were two originals and you're the descendant of one of them, Annabel," he says.

I gasp sharply. "Annabel?… I've heard that name before"

"I mean yeah, it's a name"

I shake my head. "No… I heard the name in my dreams, There were Annabel and Helen… It was like I was the Annabel"

"Cool, but that doesn't matter right now. When her powers were locked, it was being passed down through her generation, one in every family will have the powers"

"You got lucky, so you're an original vampire… that's why you don't need any ring to stay under the sunlight" he continues.

"I don't believe you"

He turned to me. "I don't care. Anyways, as the first vampire you can compel other vampires, and… that's all. Oh and nothing can kill you, and by nothing I mean nothing… Except for Herids"

"Why are you telling me this?" I ask. "I could use it against you," I say.

He looks at me again. "I don't care…"

"What exactly do you want from me, Brian?" I ask.

He sighs loudly. "Well, I want you to protect me when am in danger"

I furrowed. "What?… I'm not doing that"

"Now then, it's time to feed," he says, changing the subject.

"I'm not killing anyone," I say.

"Don't worry, you're not killing anyone… you're just taking a little bit of their blood" he says, walking away.

At Eleanor's place.

"Uhm… have you heard from Yael? After our fight, he hasn't been answering his call and hasn't been at home since then" Ian asks.

Eleanor who has been lost in thought turns to him. "You don't know?"

"Know what exactly?…"

"Yael is- dead… the cops said it was an animal attack, his body was found in the woods"

"What?… How didn't I know about this?" Ian ask. "How is he dead, how long has it been?"

"I don't know… since your last fight?"

Ian placed his both hands on his head. "How did this happen… why," He says, tears dripping down his cheek.

"I'm sorry Ian… I know what you're going through"

He angrily stomps out of the house. "I know it was not an animal attack, it can't be an animal… it's him, it's the vampire" he thought to himself.

Dave's POV

I paced as I wait for Brian in the woods to return. Sometime later, he returns with a lady. "Who the hell is this?…" I ask, pointing at the lady he came with.

"Well, this is Emma. She's a bartender at a bar not far from here… don't worry I compelled her, she won't remember any of this" he says.

"So we're just gonna catch a random person and drain their blood??"

He grabs the lady's hand and pulls her close. "What do you mean we"

He then bites her wrist until blood begins to drip down. "You're the one who is going to feed, I'm already full" he adds.

I stared at the blood as my thirst for blood rise. "Dave, you don't suppress it… you have to be able to control it"

"What difference does it make, I don't want any of this," I say, staring deeply at the blood.

"Don't fight it… control it"

And then it happened. I grab the lady's hand and dig my fangs into her wrist. The lady was not struggling or in pain, rather she stood still and watch as I suck her blood out.

"That's it… you don't want to kill her, so you stop when you feel she'll soon die"

I continue without listening to Brian's words. "Dave, stop now… Dave stops" Brian says, pulling me away from the lady.

She falls to the ground lifeless. I gasp as I stared at the dead lady. "It happened again…"

Brian stammered. "W-Well… i-it was a fine start. We didn't expect you to just get it on your first try"

"No Brian, I'm done… I'm not doing this again, never… I shouldn't have come with you, to begin with," I say, before walking away.

"You'll get it someday Dave, it's who you are now- you have to" Brian's voice echoes through my head.

Meanwhile at the Surr faction's Hideout.

Harold walks up to his father.

"What is it, son?"

"It's Brian, father, he has turned against the faction… he claims he'll use the original vampire however he sees fit"

Mr. Carter nods his head continuously. "I knew this day would come, should have gotten rid of him earlier"

He turns to Kate. "We have to get rid of Brian"

She nods.
