Chapter 27: New Order

Dave's POV

"You need to stop inviting people to stay, we were just three now we are topping five, what do you think this is? A hotel?" Eric says, shouting at top of his voice.

"Eric chill, they'll only be here till we defeat Carter and his faction, "I say trying to convince him.

Athena walked into the room. "No no, he's right, you need to stop inviting people to stay, you never know which one of them wants to kill you"

"Guys, it's fine,"

Athena pulls out a bag of blood from the refrigerator. "It's not, it really isn't. Do you know what I think?... You and Brian are dumb"

"Why would you think that?" I ask.

She uses her fangs to cut the bag open and finished it. "Simple, a lady came up to you and give stories about some vampires, you instantly believed her story and took her in, classic don't you think"

"See now I don't trust you" Brian stated

She shrugged and toss the empty bag into the trash.

She looked at me. "What are you doing to yourself?-- You are like a walking corpse Dave, when was the last time you tasted blood??"

I place my palm over my face. "What are you talking about?…" I ask in a low tone.

"She's right Dave, you look like shit right now…"

After receiving their comments, I walk over to a nearby mirror to see for myself. And I must admit, I do look like shit.

My skin is turning pale and my lips are completely dry, no matter how I try to get it, it doesn't work. And it also looks like it's peeling off.

My eyes are looking more murderous than when I first turned into a vampire and also my jaw and neck bones are very visible now. I am starting to look like those monsters out in the woods.

"When was the last time you had any blood"

I hold my throat and pull it a little while swallowing hard. "It's been long. And I must admit, sometimes my throat becomes hot like it is on fire" I say.

"Normally the vampire would die from not taking blood but…" she passed for a second. "You are a first vampire, after all the burn you'll only heal up and begin to feel the pain moments later again," Athena says.

All of a sudden, there was a knock on the door. Eric turns to me. "Who did you invite now?"

Athena swiftly runs to the door and pull it open, to reveal who it was. "Ava?" I ask.

"Hi, sorry to intrude all of a sudden, but I want to have a conversation with you"

"Sure come in…" I say

"Actually, I'd like to have this conversation outside if you don't mind"

Brian suddenly appears in front of me. "Unfortunately, we do care… you either speak your mind here, or you leave"

Ava glared at him for a moment before turning to me. She raised an eyebrow at me. "Err… I'll go with her Brian, besides she can't kill me even if she tries"

Brian nods and back away. "Why do I even care," He says.

I smiled as I walked out with Ava.

We kept walking in silence, she didn't even say a word and it was becoming pretty awkward. "So… all this while you've been following me, at the pack, in school… is it all because I was an original vampire?"

"Of course, why else would I be following you?.… When we found out that a guy named Dave enrolled here, I had to keep an eye on you, make sure you never get involved with any vampire… but I failed"
