Chapter 18: An Order

Greenleaf high.

Dave's POV

At the basketball court.

"I don't know why you are worried about killing Eleanor's aunt, she did not see you do it and she will never know you do it… and it's not like you like her…" Brian says, tossing the ball to me.

I catch it as my face falls.

He noticed the look on my face and narrowed his eyes at me. "You do like her…"

He burst into laughter. "You're a vampire now Dave, you can't like anyone because you can't have children. And I'm sure everyone wants children" he says.

Harold walks up to us. "Brian, how did you leave the house?" He asks.

"Let's just say, I have been in this school since last night," Brian says.

Harold turns to me. "You shouldn't worry about anything, I took care of the bodies and all those who saw anything… with the help of the faction that is. We don't want anyone to know about it" he says.

He puts his hand in his pocket and pulls out a ring. He then hands it to Brian before walking away.

"Well, there's nothing to worry about now Dave… just forget it all, it's all in the past now," he says.

"What are you saying?… How would I forget all this?" I ask, tossing the ball back to him.

"You just have to Dave. It is what it is" He says.

A cold chill suddenly ran down my spine. "W-When did you become a vampire?" I ask.

He looks down, as he runs his hand through his hair. "I don't know… it was at a dojo, I was beaten to a pulp by some bully. All I remember is that I almost died and suddenly I was back home feeling all good, no injury on me but I was starving" he chuckles.

"I asked my mom what happened and she said some man brought me back home… she died by the way"

"W-Who killed her…" I ask.

He smiles. "Me… I killed my mom. Don't get me wrong, after I became a vampire I needed blood, and I bite her. I was foolish…" Brian says.

"You didn't bother to find out who turned you?"

"I mean, they took me in and took care of all my wants. I had nothing to worry about… until now I never thought of those days again" He says.

"Who took you in?" I ask.

He looks at me and sighs.

Few years back.

Greenleaf hospital.

"Move. Move… Get out of the way, get the doctor now" some nurses says as they pushed the gurney into a room.

One of the nurses held me to stop me from getting through. "What happened to her kid?" She asked.

"I don't know, I came back home and she was laying on the floor bleeding. I think it was an animal attack"

I didn't know what happened to me, and when the nurse asked, I just spoke without thinking. I knew something was wrong.

"Is that her blood on your clothing?" The nurse asked.

I nod nervously. "Yes, I thought I could help her"

The nurse nods and leads me to an empty room. "Rest here for a while. I'll get back to you okay" She said before leaving me alone in the room.

A few moments later, Mr. Carter walked in. "You must be Brian Houston"
