Chapter 25: Among us

Brian's POV

I swiftly push past the door and stop, turning back to face Kate. "You shouldn't have chased me here," I say.

She steps into the house. "You've trapped yourself"

She inhales. "There's someone else here, I'm sure you know them huh… is it Dave?…" She asked.

I smile as Athena sneaks up from behind with a stake in her hand. But of cause, being the vampire that she is, she heard her footsteps and turn just in time to grab her hand and steal the weapon from her.

She digs the stake deeply into her chest. Athena screams as she breaks it, leaving half in her. She then kicks her away.

The moment Kate turned to me, Dave appeared in front of her and twist her neck. She fell to the ground motionless.

Athena rests her back on the wall. "Next time I'm not playing bait," she said, trying to get the stake out of her chest without killing herself.

We tied her to a pillar in the basement of the apartment.

She spat out blood as she opens her eyes. "Athena, how dare you betray the faction?… All you've fought for, all your sacrifice would just be in vain. You will never see them ever…"

Athena punched her in the face. "Oh don't lie to me… I've known the truth for so long, since when you and Leah killed Luna" She says.

Kate laughs. "I knew Luna wasn't working alone…"

I push past Athena to stand in front of Kate. "Enough with this little chit-chat. And Kate tells us everything you know, about Leah, Surr, or even Annabel…"

Kate scoffs. "And you just expect me to start speaking, I wasn't born yesterday Brian"

I smiled. "You either start speaking, or he'll compel you to… I'm sure they'll be a lot of interesting stories to tell" I say, pointing at Dave.

But she still didn't speak. "Very well then…"

I moved to the side as Dave walk to her front. He holds her face still as he looked into her eyes. "You will tell us everything you know about Leah and even Surr…"

Eric who has been sitting in silence cleared his throat. "How the hell is he able to compel other vampires?"

Athena turns to him. "Could you just sit and remain quiet"

He nods. "I guess I'll just go and keep studying how to kill vampires," he stated.

Kate then begins. "Leah and I were sisters back in the 8th century…"

"What you are not sisters anymore??…" I asked sarcastically.

Athena punched me in the arm, and I remained quiet.

"We were just normal sisters, with a normal life, skilled with abilities to heal the injured… And then it happened"

In a village far to the east of the world.

"You will be fine Ali. You only sprained your ankle, just give it some days and everything would be okay…" Leah says to the old man, after tying a bandage around his ankle.

She turned and handed over the treatment bag to me. "Come on Kate, let's go…"

I smiled and nod, as we both left the house.

"We have one more person to tend to and we are done for the day," Leah says.

I point down the road as two people walked up to us, a male and a female. Their body all covered in blood.
