Chapter 31: Vampire Reign

In Greenleaf.

Dave's POV

I stood in front of a gravestone, holding back my tears as I stare at the name and pictures of Eric and my mom.

Different thoughts run through my mind the more I look at their pictures. I pull out my handkerchief and wipe my face.

"Death huh... it's pretty sad how our loved ones have to go..." A male voice says from behind.

I turn to see a man in his early thirties, he had completely white hair and large blue eyes.

He extended his hand for a handshake. "I'm Sam, Eric's friend"

I take his hand and the side of my lips twitch a little. "Dave... I'm his friend too..." I say, laughing a little. "I wanted to say he never told me about you... but it doesn't matter now, right"

He smiled and shook his head. "Yeh... I am kind of a distant friend... we don't talk that much. But I wouldn't miss his funeral"

I wiped my face and turn to my mum's photo. "Is that your mom?" He asks.

I nod. "Haven't seen her since I left for college... we fought, and now I'm regretting having that fight"

"I shouldn't have done or said anything I did... I wasn't even answering her calls, I'm so stupid" I say, with a crying voice.

He placed his hand on my shoulder. "Moments like this you wished you had a way to bring her back."

He glanced at his watch and then up at me. "I gotta run... see yah later," he says, with a shady accent.

I nod and turn back to mourning, different thoughts running through my head.

After being there for a while, I turn to see Athena walking up to me. As she approached me, she hugged me. "I'm so sorry Dave..."

"It's fine Athena, this is not the first time I have lost someone."

She pulled back and looked me in the eyes. "And this is not the first time I have heard someone say that and end up becoming a murderer. I may not know you for long, but I know how you feel, don't go doing anything stupid"

"I'm fine Athena, and I won't do anything stupid."

We walked together in silence until she spoke. "I know this is not the right time to bring this up but… Brian is dead Dave," She said, turning to face me. "Harold and Mr. Carter have done it. Surr is free…"

I sigh and look up at the sky. "Well… it is what had to happen, nothing we do could have stopped it" I stated. "What about Kate?" I queried.

"She ran away" she replied.

Dave exhaled deeply.

2 years later.

In the city hall, many citizens are gathered around listening to the mayor as he makes his speech. Despite all the people around, it is completely quiet and the only noise present was the mayor's voice. "And now, I would like to introduce the captain of the special force police, Noah Stone," he said, pointing at a man in his mid-thirties. He had completely black hair which was perfectly made on his head. His eyes were brown and small.

Noah puts a smile on his face as he collects the mic from the mayor. "Thank you, Mayor. It is an honor…" He said, the smile immediately fading from his face as he faces the crowd.

"Good day, citizens of Greenleaf… I am by name Noah El. Stone the captain of Greenleaf's new special police force…"

"As we all already know, in the past years… we've received countless death reports from an unknown animal attack. Well, we have done some research and found out that this is no ordinary animal, it is a monster attacking the people of Greenleaf" He continued, making his voice louder anytime he stops to continue.

"But you need not worry yourself… the government made this new organization to fight these monsters and I, Noah El. Stone will do everything I can to see that these creatures are no longer housing in Greenleaf… thank you" He concluded.

The crowd goes wild, as they applauded. He bends his head a little before walking off the stage

That night at Noah's place.

He took off his suit and dropped it on the couch next to him. "My work this time is going to be tough…" He said to himself.

He looked around the room, it was too quiet to be normal. "Honey?… Are you home yet?" He called out before walking into the bedroom.

Noah gasps as he sees his wife laying on the ground with blood all around her. He screamed and knelt beside her, turning her over. "No… honey…"

He gets to his feet and quickly pulled out his gun. "Show yourself, you monstrous creature."

Before he could finish, something moving at an inhuman speed punched him. He went flying into the wall behind him.

The vampire stopped in front of him with blood dripping down his lips. "So you are the cop that's meant to kill all vampires right?…" The vampire says.

Noah rolled away from the vampire and picked up his gun. The vampire laughs knowing that mere bullets won't do anything to him. But as Noah shoots, the vampire falls to the ground with blood gushing out his mouth.

He digs his hand into his chest and pulls the bullet out. "What?… You think I'll use a normal bullet to fight a vampire?"

"Your kind killed my daughter… now you've taken my wife from me. I'm going to kill you evil beings"

He pulled out a stake from his belt and approach the vampire. The vampire stood to attack him, but he stabbed the stake in his chest. "I will hunt down every last one of you"

A man walked through the hot burning desert. He had sand all over his body. He was barely holding himself up as he walked forward. He kept making traces of the trail on the hot sand as he kept going.

He didn't stop even as he kept going forward. It was like he had a destination that he was determined to reach.

After two nights of walking, he somehow left the desert and reached a small house. He let himself fall to the ground, making the lady that was there fetching water from a well rush up to him.

She turned him over to face her. "Hello, are you okay?" She questioned, nudging him continuously but he didn't respond. She dragged him into her house and lay him down on the bed. She brought a cup of water and sprinkled it on his face. He slowly opened his eyes. He turned to look at the girl.

"Are you okay? Do you need anything?" She queried.

He just stared at her unable to say a word. He probably spent a lot of days in the desert but somehow managed to make it out alive. Who is he? How did he survive the burning hot desert for up to two days and still survive?
