Giselle

"Giselle Lazaro! Looking so good as always!"

I turned at the person who just called my name. I automatically smiled when I saw that it was someone I know from the industry. I excused myself to the reporter I was talking to earlier before I was called. The reporter didn't want me to let go because he probably got more questions to ask me but he just nodded and went away.

"Look at you! So stunning tonight!" Aliza, the one who called me, said and pulled me gently to give me a kiss on my cheeks. I did the same thing as my greeting to her.

"Not as stunning as you," I complimented her too. She just laughed and suddenly looked away from me to wave at someone.

Aliza was one of my close friends in the industry. We first met two years ago from this TV show where we were both guesting. Nakasalubong ko lang siya and nagbatian lang kaming dalawa. Then, I met her again when Piper had a party. She was very approachable so we became friends. After that I met a lot of people because of her. My circle grew bigger together with my fame.

"Hey, I heard the rumors," she said. I furrowed my eyebrows, not knowing which rumor she's talking about. I have a lot of rumors so I don't know which one. "You're retiring from being a solo artist? Is it true?"

"Oh," I whispered. That rumor. Well, it wasn't actually a rumor because it's true. I'm going to retire soon. "Yeah, in 5 months."

"What?" She got surprise when I confirmed it was true. "Why? Many people are just starting to love you!"

"Yeah but it's too much spotlight for me," I told her my reason. "I can still accept invitations to perform or be a guest but that's all."

I just don't want all the attentions on me. Also, I know I'm going to be more and more busy if I continue for more years. Ngayon pa nga lang ay masyado nang puno ang schedule ko. I might lose all my time for my daughter. That's what I'm avoiding, losing time for her.

Besides, I think 3 years and 4 months are enough time for me to get back those times that I lost. I feel.. contented now. I don't think I need to have a big name in the industry.

"Oh, well, I think you're making a good decision. It's just so sad," she said and pouted. Aliza supports my career eversince we met. 'Di na'ko magtataka kung malungkot nga talaga siyang magre-retire na ako.

Me and Aliza talked for a bit more until some film directors called her. She knows almost everyone in the industry. She left me alone to go to the directors but she quickly told me to sit with her during the show.

I'm in a award show but I'm not going to perform. I just got invited here to be one of the announcers for the winners. Just like what I said, I'm about to retire. Naisip kong simulan ko nang bawasan ang mga trabaho ko.

"Giselle Lazaro, a pose for us, please!"

I looked at the cameras and smiled. I also gave them a pose just like what they requested. After that, I waved at them, ready to leave the venue. They kept calling me but I have to leave, my manager was calling me too.

In the van, I changed into much simpler dress. I'm only going to a dinner with some known music producers and singers so I don't need to wear fancy. I just wore hoop earrings and a ring with a big stone on it. My makeup artist removed my makeup and just put a new shade of lipstick.
