Giselle

"What are you doing, Mavi?"

I just woke up and the first thing I saw was my daughter doing a ballet. There's also a soft music coming from the TV. It was actually a video from YouTube, a ballet performance. I think she's trying to imitate the steps from the performance.

"Oh, good morning, Mommy!" She greeted me. She stopped from doing the ballet and went up to our bed. I needed to pull her up since nahirapan siyang umakyat. Then, she gave me a kiss on my cheeks, giggling.

"Why are you up so early?" I asked, caressing her hair. Umayos ako at umupo sa kama. Sa tingin ko kanina pa ata siya gising eh. She didn't look like she just woke up.

"I'm practicing, Mommy," she answered with a big smile plastered on her face.

"Practicing what?" I asked even though I already knew what she was trying to do.

"Ballet!" She happily told me. "Mommy, when I was in Tito Shawn's work, the ballerinas there were so amazing! So pretty and nice! I want to be like them, Mommy."

"Really? Are they better than Mommy?" I asked.

"Kinda," she whispered as if she didn't want me to be upset with her answer. I let out a fake gasp and held my chest.

"You like them more than me?" I acted hurt and even pouted.

"No, Mommy! I like you more!" She panicked and even hugged me just to prove she likes me more than the ballerinas.

I chuckled, also wrapping my arms around her. "I know."

"I love you, Mommy," she said. Her voice was muffled since her face was buried on my neck but I still heard it clearly. It was random and it warmed my heart.

My baby... I could never imagine her as a grown woman.

"Could you show me what have you learn from the video? I want to see it." I asked her to dance which she excitedly did.

I was showing her some exaggerated reactions while doing a ballet in front of me. It wasn't that good and there are a lot of mistakes. But the confidence were still visible in her eyes. She really loves ballet.

"Did I do great?" She asked after showing me some steps she just learned.

"Of course! You could already be a professional ballerina, baby, just like the ballerinas in your uncle's work." I told her, making her eyes twinkle.

"Really?!" Mavi's smile got bigger with my compliment.

I gave her a nod, giggling with her. I left her in the room for a moment to wash my face while she continued doing ballet.

Every morning or any random time, I would always see Mavi doing a ballet. Napapadalas na ang pagsasayaw niya ng ballet. She would do it in the living room, in bedroom or even in the garden. Kung saan-saan ko siya nakikitang sumasayaw.

She would always spend most of her time dancing ballet which made me think about enrolling her in a ballet school. Summer naman at matagal-tagal pa bago ang pasukan sa school. I was sure she will definitely agree with that idea so I decided to find a good ballet school for her before telling her. I actually wanted be a surprise but she kind of discover it.
