Martha’s POV
I was the last to wake up the next morning. I’ve been feeling so weak recently. I’ve put it down to the damage done by Loki. But this morning I felt better. Much better. Like I could take on Loki’s army single-handedly. I went through to what used to be a waiting room and saw all of the Avengers sitting in a circle with their game-faces on. I guessed they were all formulating a plan. The Doctor was trying to make breakfast with the preserved foods that we had found in the little room in the back where all of the employees had their lunch before this mess. It was surprisingly good. He never ceases to amaze me.
“I never knew you could cook.” I smirked as he turned around, half startled by my abruptness.
He smiled with all of his teeth and said “Well, when you’ve got all of time and spend many days alone you learn a few things.”
“I’m in shock! There’s actually a time when you’re not kicking alien butt or are in life-threatening situations!” I said sarcastically and he smirked as he stirred his tea.
“You’re feeling better, I see. What’s made you so happy? Oh, and do you want some tea?”
“I dunno, I just woke up feeling like I could take on the world. I’ve probably slept everything off. And a cup of tea would be lovely thank you.”
“Right, well there’s the kettle.” He said half laughing and walking out.
I scoffed and shook my head. I had just put the sugar in when Steve knocked on the door.
“Miss Jones, we’re about to go through our plan and we need to run some things by you, if that’s alright.”
“Yeah, sure, two minutes I’m making tea.” I spoke, adding in the water.
“We kinda need you now, there’s no time.” He insisted, rather awkwardly.
“There’s always time for tea.” I informed him.
“Oh yeah?” He jeered.
“Yes. What, is it too British for you, Mr Biggest-American-Patriot?” I teased.
“That’s Captain Biggest-American-Patriot to you. Just be quick.”
I smiled to myself as he left and stirred it before walking through to the waiting room.
I sat down next to the Doctor who still had his mug in his hands. It was half empty already. I smiled and said good morning to the Avengers and kept quiet after that.
“Right, now that her majesty has joined us,” Steve started and I smirked to myself (not to go unnoticed by the majority in the room), “let’s go through what we’ve got. Natasha and I will sneak into the tower and pose as guards. Well place little devices that Tony has been developing around the whole building.”
