3rd Person POV

Martha kept checking her watch. Tony, Bruce and the Doctor came in and sat down. There was an awkward silence as no one really knew where to go from there. The Doctor was the first to break the ice.

“Martha, are you sure you’re alright?” He said sincerely, unwilling to believe the preposterous theory that Tony had, but he kept a look out for suspicious behaviour nonetheless.

“Yes. I am fine.” She said nonchalantly and checked her watch again.

“Well, what happened while we were away, once we’d left you?” He persisted. He was determined to prove them wrong, but her hostility was not helping one bit. Tony scoffed and Martha drew him daggers which made him shift uncomfortably in his seat.

“I’ve made my position quite clear. I’ll talk about it when I want to talk about, so could you please stop asking me?” She said rather coldly which caught the Doctor completely by surprise. Maybe Tony has a point, he thought. She checked her watch one last time and stood up. She put her coat on and headed for the door, but Tony caught her before she could leave.

“Woah, woah, woah, honey, got somewhere to be?” He smiled; knowing he was right in there was something wrong with her. He couldn’t help but notice the blue in her eyes now that he knew it was there, and he’d also noticed her reoccurring watch checks which he found to be extremely suspicious.

“I’m going out for a walk where no one can interrogate me.” She spat out with hatred, jerking her arm away from his grasp.

“Oh, I’m sorry, I can’t let you do that, you know how dangerous and irresponsible that is? You going out by yourself? With all Loki’s horses and all Loki’s men creeping around?” Tony asked sarcastically, referencing the old nursery rhyme. Bruce gave a light chuckle. Martha, however, held her death stare. She’s really not a good actor, Tony thought.

“What, are you saying I can’t look out for myself?” Martha asked, offended.

“No, but if one of them were to follow you back here or to take you prisoner again… either way it’s not a smart move. You can’t go out, that’s it.” Tony replied sternly.

“Those are the least of your worries.” She uttered back so quietly that only Tony could hear her. She went to push past him but he was stronger that her and he dragged her back to the sofa.

“Sit down!” He shouted at her and she did so. She huffed and sat with a scowl. She was constantly checking her watch and was growing more and more restless. Tony sat and tried to figure out what she meant by what she said to him.

In a desperate attempt to get out, Martha turned to the Doctor, knowing that he would give in.

“Doctor please, get me out of here, I don’t feel good, I need some air.” She pleaded with big eyes. The Doctor looked at Tony for an answer. He’d been thinking for the past ten minutes and he even admitted to himself that Martha was acting strange. Tony shook his head sternly, why did she want to leave so badly?

“Martha, I think it’s best you stay here, where we can all keep an eye on you.” He sighed, feeling slightly guilty. She whined in defeat and slumped back into her chair.

“Those are the least of your worries.” Tony’s mind raced.

She was constantly checking her watch and was growing more and more restless.

She was walking about the room, placing her hands on lots of different pieces of furniture.

She checked her watch and headed for the door.

What does it all mean?! Tony’s thoughts were interrupted as Thor and Clint barged through the door. It was a shock to everyone when they all saw what they’d brought back with them.

“…Capsicle?” Tony questioned.

“Wait, isn’t he one of Loki’s puppets?” Bruce asked. It annoyed him that he’s been away for so long. Being told what happened was a completely different thing than witnessing it for yourself.

“Not anymore,” Clint laughed, “found him sneaking about near the house. Thor smashed his head into a railing outside after I’d distracted him. You got somewhere to put him? I’m assuming you do since I don’t see Natasha around.”

Steve himself was trying to stay conscious, like he had something on his mind. There was a large lump on his forehead and he was clad in a normal black jumpsuit. Even though Tony thought his spangly outfit was ridiculous, he and Bruce thought it was weird, even wrong, seeing him in something different.

“Yeah through here.” Bruce led them through to the medical room. Just before he was out of hearing range, Steve cried out: “…Countdown…”

After hearing this, Martha checked her watch for what seemed the millionth time and chuckled slightly.

“What’s so funny?” The Doctor asked.

“Tick…Tock…” She sang with an odd grin.

“Oh my god,” Tony breathed as he figured it out, “Everybody out now, get out of the house, move!” He shouted and ran through to the medical room. “Grab those two and move, we need to leave.” He said while grabbing some sedatives.  The Doctor stood, confused by the current situation. Tony came back through and threw the sedatives on the sofa. He ran into another room to get his suit after shouting “Vase!” to the Doctor. He obviously knew what he was talking about but obviously didn’t want to do it. “What?!” He shouted, what is going on? He thought. He went to go after him but was stopped when he heard a loud crash. He turned to see Bruce standing next to an unconscious Martha, with broken pieces of pottery surrounding her. Clint picked her up as Thor was already trying to hold Natasha and Steve. “C’mon Doctor, let’s go!” Bruce shouted as he ran to open the door. “Why? What’s happening?!” He shouted. Even though he liked these Avengers, he did not like the fact that he wasn’t the only really smart person in the room. He always liked to know what was going on. He blamed his particular slowness in this situation however, on his emotions and unwillingness to accept the truth. Bruce only shrugged his shoulders to the Doctor’s question as he’d come to trust whatever Tony said.

They all made it outside in a blinded hurry. As they reached the curb on the opposite side of the street, their luck only seemed to be worsening…

*A/N: Sorry to leave it at that cliff-hanger but it was too tempting, what do you think happened/is going to happen? I dunno if it seems too obvious? I tried to give some clues but I’m not sure how obvious it is. Sorry if this chapter is a bit crappy, I’m not too pleased with it and I was having a little trouble writing it. I feel like I’m getting all of the characters wrong, like I’m focussing too much on Tony, and the Doctor isn’t as funny or smart as he usually is, and Bruce and Thor etc. aren’t really in it that much. But, on the plus side, we’ve got Natasha, Steve and now Martha back as well so the next few chapters will hopefully be better. Also, if what happens next is too obvious, don’t worry because something you (hopefully) won’t expect is also to come. Dedicated to JokerStark. Thanks again for everyone reading and putting up with this story. This has not been proofread.*
