Springing to life with a gasp as your jolted from your slumber, the screams still echo in your mind. Panting for breath as you run your hand through damp hair, grasping fistfuls at the back of your head listening to the deep rapid pounding in your chest. Another nightmare...

'ugh..' growling in anger you rip the soaked sweaty sheets from your body, the cool tiles stringing the soles of your bare feet, a welcoming contrast, as you cross your penthouse suite. Heading to the kitchen, with shaking hands you grab a glass and run the cool tap. Resting your elbows on the smooth white countertops as you pinch the bridge of your nose releasing a hopeless breath, nothing can stop your mind looping the worst moments of your life, the brutal murder of your mother.

If only there was an award for the shittest cinematic experience, I would win first prize every night! This private viewing my own kind of personal hell that fuels the anger, rage even that burns through your body. Gripping the countertop as you bend over the sink trying to steady your breathing, unable to contain yourself, you release a heart reaching roar before launching the glass across the room. Watching as it shatters against the wall, shimmering pearly beads raced to meet the decorated flooring covered by a million shards of crystal fragments.

Glancing over at the clock it reads 3.24 great.. at least no one should be in the gym. Grabbing your bag and swiftly throwing over your shoulder with ease, you jam the button of the escalator. You know by now attempting to go back to sleep is futile so may as well get an early start to the day.

The hours pass, your body aching with the strain as you push to your limits, the muscles twitching in your biceps as the veins raise to the surface. Dropping the weights with a thud as they bounce across the ground you reach for your phone buzzing on the bench. Panting 'Hey Steve.'

'Catch you at a bad time Buck' He remarks through the speakers. 'Sounding a bit breathless there buddy.'

'ugh... What? No nothing like that, it's fine. Just at the gym.'

'Cool, well I have just dropped Jade at Trix's flat, she's not far from you so wondered if you wanted to meet for the debriefing today and get a head start this morning?'

"BEA-trix." you correct his disrespect in a sharp tone, like gravel being crushed under a spinning tyre.

"erm, yea Beatrix. Oh you probably don't remember her, she's Jade's friend from last night."

Don't remember ... The very mention of her name brings you flash backs of her supple skin, her plump lips and the vivid grass green of her eyes gazing up at you. Beautiful Beatrix. pinching the bridge of your nose as her eyes burned into your soul spread a warming pressure in your torso almost as if you could feel her pressed against you again. Just as you begin to relish in the thought, Steve rips you back from your imagination.

"Barnes ... Are you hearing me"

'Sure. I will be at the office in 20.'

Slipping into your flat finding you still spread across the sofa in your gown Jade heads over to the kitchen making a pot of fresh coffee. The warm aromatic spices raising you from you slumber just as Jade places a steaming cup by the side of you. 'Wh...what time is it?'

'9.30, Steve just dropped me off on his way to sort some things out at the office, he's such a workaholic. I however wanted to get all the gossip between you and your dark. Devilish. Mr Barnes...the famous mystery man you have not stopped pining over' she mockingly toyed as she jabbed at you sarcastically while clutching her heart lovingly fluttering her eyelashes.

Your face instantly flamed into an inferno, checks blushing crimson, 'Nothing is happening. He is a polite gentleman yes, but you saw how busy he was last night, he can choose from any woman in the city. If he hadn't drove me home I would doubt he even registered who I was.'

Her eye brows shooting through the roof, 'WHAT!!! He drove you home, when! Did he kiss you? I saw the way you two were eye fucking each other all evening. And don't think for one moment I didn't clock that damsel in distress move in the hotel, what a whore!'

'Wait. What.. no we weren't' your expression puzzled trying to recall your interaction .or there lack of interactions during the nights events through the haze of your morning hangover. 'we hardly spoke all evening, I'm sure he was just being nice as I'm your friend.'

''Girl, I swear you have zero skills with this thing. Will you please just trust me on this. He's digging you.' Jade slips back rolling her eyes taking a sip from her mug.
