Dragging your bags back up the apartment stairs almost 2 weeks had passed since you left. The workmen had called to let you know the new door had been installed and you could return. James was busy in the office so you caught a cab back home, it was so much louder than you remembered it being in the block.
Pushing past you, 3 young children screamed down the corridor as an old lady with a rolling pin shouted after them in Spanish angrily. Arriving at your floor, the guy is waiting for you. Handing over the key as you reach into you bag for your purse he stops you, ' No ma’am, the payment has been taken care of.’
Scanning the paper searching for who had paid. ‘ Mr S Rogers.’ You whisper to yourself with a smile.
Letting yourself inside the now easy to open door, you toss the keys onto the kitchen side before taking a seat at the table. Taking out your phone you type out a quick message.
Hey Steve, thanks for the door! Just got the new keys.
Hitting send before placing the phone of the table you head straight to your bed, it feels like forever since you last slept. Between work and being with James you were exhausted, happy. But exhausted.
Jolting upright your rudely awakened to rapid knocking at your door. Taking a moment to gather your bearings you stumble out of bed to see what or who was causing all the racket. As you unlock the door, your hand twisting the round brass knob , Jade burst through the entrance. ‘Bloody hell you look like shit. Have you just woke up?’
Peering at the mirror your hair stuck up in all directions complementing your mascara which had smeared across your face. Attempting to revive your appearance you mumble back, ‘Nice to see you too Jay.’
‘’Well now your all rested you have no excuses!’ Flashing four tickets at you, ‘Double Date. Managed to bag some tickets for The Slipper Room!’ Jade was almost exploding with excitement.
‘No way. I heard they are hard to come by. A date sounds pretty good right about now, I have hardly seen James the last few days as we have both been working so much.’ Grabbing your phone back off the table you dial Bucky.
‘Hey Doll, Everything ok?’ You could hear lots of background noise, wherever he was you knew he was busy.
‘Hey. Yea sorry I know your probably busy but Jade wants to know if we fancy going out tonight for a surprise.’ Waving your hand shushing Jade’s laughter.
‘A surprise, sure. Let me just finish up here with erm....training, and then I can meet you?’ at hearing the mischief in his tone you become suspicious. ‘What are you up to?...’
‘Just saying hi to your friend, Peter.’ The background noise now becoming clear as peters muffled screaming.
‘James! What are you doing to Peter.’ Your voice demanding. Hearing a ping on your phone you see he has sent you a selfie of Peter tied to a chair. ‘Release him now!’
‘Hey. He volunteered to help us practice our skills in case a high ranking client is in trouble.’ Your silent response let’s James know you were serious. ‘Ok, ok. There..’
The sound of the tape being ripped from Peters mouth as he calls out ‘Thank you Miss Miller’!’ you tut before instructing Bucky to be here by 8pm.
