‘Miss Miller’ Peter jumped up from behind his desk excited to see you as you walked into the lab.

‘Please, it’s Trixie.’ Your hand covering your eyes as he blinds you with the torch strapped to his forehead.

‘Oh sorry Miss Trixie, I’ll turn it off.’ Ripping the headpiece off, the elastic band keeping it in place flings across the room. Ducking for cover, the clanging of metal trays and a glass beaker shattering filled the small gap of silence before you both erupted into laughter.

Perching on a stool opposite Peter, you rummage through your bag pulling out your notebook and pen. Very old fashioned in comparison to the top rated up and coming technology surrounding you. It isn’t long before Peter opens up about his journey through high school, attending MIT where he won a scholarship here in the lab with his best friend Ned.

Pointing to a larger male with shaggy dark hair hidden behind some computer screens towards the back of the room. ‘He’s my guy in the chair. Wouldn’t be where I am without him.’ Their brotherly bond speaking volumes.

You don’t understand a lot of what Peter says when he is explaining some of the exciting projects he is developing but his smooth British accent keeps you fixated on the conversation. Now opting for a voice recorder instead of paper, simply because there was no way you were keeping up, you hit the stop button before completing a full 360 spin on the stool.

‘I’m starving. Shall we order a pizza?’

Looking between the boys who have been so helpful in expanding your expectations for the expo, they deserve a reward.
It isn’t long before the food arrives, you all kick back on the sofa enjoying the delicious grease of Luigi’s. Peter snaps a selfie to mark the occasion.

Looking down at your phone, 1 new message – Beatrix

Eagerly opening up the text your greeted by a familiar face. Beatrix, Peter and Ned. Letting the corners of your mouth curl seeing how happy and relaxed she was compared to last night you let out a small almost laugh of a huff. The 3 of them were down in the lab still by the looks of the silly faces they were pulling, ‘Working hard Doll?’ you respond.

Seconds later your phone let’s out another short vibration as she responds. ‘Best date ever *wink and laughing face emoji’s.’

Taking the jibe from your conversation this morning, you know she is trying to wind you up, and it was working. with a smirk, ‘Challenge accepted.’
