Marinette and Adrien stood in front of the throne room door hand and hand. It was time for the big reveal.

**Last Night**

"Adrien, are you sure?" Marinette asked, still cradled in Chat Noir's arms.

Truth be told, he wasn't sure. Did he want to go back to the palace? Did he want to continue living the way he was before? He could just change his mind, and not go back, but...he was all his father had. Not to mention, Nino was still there, too. Could he actually leave behind the two people he cared about?

"Adrien?" Marinette squeaked.

His eyes went down to his princess. She had shown him kindness without the need for knowing who he truly was because she knew who he was. She understood him in a whole new way.  Now, the big question remained, would he be able to stay with her or will he have to give her up?

Just then, an image of his mother flashed in his head. Her memory, her love, her beauty, everything...

No!

He deserved his freedom. He was going to do right by his mother, and be the person that she believed he is. He may have lost his way, but that's the past and this is the future.

"Marinette," Adrien gazed down at her. "I'm sure, my Lady."

Marinette smiled. She then stood on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to Adrien's. She didn't care who he was. Whether he was Adrien or Chat Noir, he was still someone she grew to love no matter what his outside looked like. His inside, his heart was all that mattered to her.

**END OF FLASHBACK**

Adrien stood in front of the throne room doors. When he had approached the castle, the guards were frantic. They had run around informing the servants, messengers, and everyone in the palace that their prince had returned. Of course, the first to actually greet Adrien was Nino. He wrapped his best friend in a choking hug that made the two of them cry.

When the hug was broken, Nino had many questions, and Adrien assured his friend that they would be answered. He also noticed a young brunette next his friend. Nino questioned who she was and his answer was his best friend taking the girl's hand.

Nino jumped for joy and winked at his friend. Adrien just rolled his eyes. He was happy to see Nino again. Now, the biggest part was seeing his father, King Gabriel, again.

After everyone calmed down, the prince was asked to meet the king in the throne room. Adrien was nervous. The last time he saw his father, they had a huge argument, but now, for the first time, Adrien wasn't afraid. He had Plagg by his side and his love Marinette.

With a small squeeze of their hands, the two entered the throne room. A servant announced their presence and the king tried his best to not change his expression. However, he ultimately failed. He leapt from his throne, taking three strides at a time until he finally reached his son. He engulfed him in a big hug.

With a shock, Adrien released Marinette's hand and slowly wrapped both his arms around his father. He could feel something wet fall on his neck and hair.

They were tears. Was his father, the man who was always calm, the man who showed no expression whatsoever, actually crying? Did he miss Adrien that much?

The prince's eyes started to swell with tears as he too cried into his father's embrace. Over and over again, the king whispered in his son's ear, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

This only made Adrien wail. He could not believe what he was hearing. Not only was his father hugging him and crying, but he also was apologizing. At that moment, Adrien released all the emotion, all the pain he kept inside. After so many years, he finally felt the warmth of his father.
