After their reunion, Adrien, his father, and Marinette began to talk business. Adrien insisted they talk alone and Gabriel obliged. The trio made their way down the many grand corridors of the castle until they came upon a large double door. Inside, a large desk laid in the center with one chair behind it, and two in front of it. On each side of the room were two bookshelves, the ones on the left were filled with books, while the ones on the right were filled with documents. There was also a large map on the wall above the windows that overlooked the kingdom.
Once everyone was inside and seated, Adrien took a deep breath. He held Marinette's hand tighter, and in returned she placed her other hand on his. This calmed him, but just a bit because he had to explain everything to his father. And he meant everything, every detail since he ran away and the plot to take over the kingdoms of England and France.
With a deep breath, Adrien began his story. He was careful not to miss any detail and decided to exclude some small ones, like his sneaking out every now and again. After two hours, Adrien finished his story. The king sat silently for a moment. He then rose from his chair and walked to the window. He gazed out at the beautiful plains and then at the kingdom over the horizon.
He thought of his wife, Emilie. "She always did believe in magic," he chuckled, silently.
The king turned to his son and smiled. "You are just like your mother."
Adrien smiled. He also rose from his seat along with Marinette. "Father," he began. "I know that you worry about my safety, but trust me when I tell you that Marinette and I will protect the people of not only Nottingham but also all of France as well. I know that you want to keep me safe because you are scared, but you don't need to worry about me. I'm ready and able to do what needs to be done."
Gabriel sighed. This son of his, who only yesterday was crying because of a mere fall, was now standing before him as a great man.
Gabriel walked over to Adrien and Marinette. "I am so proud," he whispered. Again, Adrien wrapped his arms around his father. He couldn't be happier.
When Gabriel released Adrien, he then turned his gaze to Marinette, who stood with a bit of stiffness. It was expected since she was in love with King's son and meeting the king, himself.
"So," the king began. "You are the one who has stolen my son's heart?"
Marinette blushed a bit. "Yes," she nodded.
"You remind me of my wife," he smiled. "The moment I saw her, I was in love. Who am I stop such a thing."
He wrapped his arms around Marinette as well, signaling that he had accepted her. After a while, the two broke apart, and Gabriel asked the two if they had any plan to stopping King John and Hawkmoth. The two looked at each other, then nodded.
"We do father, but in order for it to work, I need your trust and help," Adrien replied.
"You already have both, my son," he grinned.

Within a few weeks, Adrien and Marinette went to work. While Adrien trained the guards, Marinette trained new miraculous holders. Two of which were Alya, Rena Rouge, and Nino, Carapace. They thought it would be best to have people that they knew to handle the miraculous. The work wasn't easy, but it was rewarding.
They knew that they didn't have a lot of time. They had used one of Rena Rouge's illusions to infiltrate the castle and get some information. It was discovered that Hawkmoth had been building his strength. The group thought it was strange that were no new Akuma attacks. But what Rena's illusion saw only shook them to the bone.
The illusion witnessed Hawkmoth gathering energy from his miraculous. He had the power to control a person based upon their negative emotions. He had found a way to gather those negative emotions and channel them into his miraculous. It was all thanks to Prince John's so-called 'ruling' that allowed Hawkmoth to gather all the negative energy.
The team knew that the clock was ticking and when the time was up, that was when the battle began.
