Power Gems

Chapter 18

We landed on the damp grass, Luna turned to me.  “We need to hurry and find the other Power Gems before he comes.” Luna said in the most serious way I could ever imagine.  “He?” I asked, “Who’s ‘he’?”  “He is the on who created the Shadow Lurkers, he is the one with all darkness, he is…” – BOOM!!

            “What the hell?!” I yelled turning around really fast one of my pigtails hit me in the face.  I snapped out my wings and started running as fast as I could, I jumped off the ground hard and started flapping.  Moments later I saw a blaze of red- the tree house was on fire.  “Oh no,” I said under my breath as my eyes started to have tears in them.  “JASON ZOIE!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, tears started rolling down my cheeks so much that I could barley see. 

            I was about a few yards away from the burning tree house when something caught me eye on the ground.  I saw a fuzz of red and yellow.  “Jason Zoie!!” I yelled down at the ground with joy.  I angled myself and started to bolt down onto the ground.  I landed and started running toward the red and yellow fuzz I saw from above, not only did I see Jason and Zoie okay, but also they were tied together and their mouths were taped shut. 

            “Jason Zoie!!” I said running toward them.  I heard laughter in front if me, a tall man I a black drench coat that covered his body come out from behind the trees.  He had slicked back white hair and dark sunglasses.  His arms were twice the size of mine.  “Who are you?!” I demanded form him.  “I am the darkness you are afraid of, I am going to be the ruler of all of you, I am…Blackout.” He said his voice dark and low that sent a shiver down my spine.  “And now it’s time for all of you Power Gems to die!” he said and snapped his fingers.  Girls in white hospital dresses and long black hair came out of the woods.  “Shadow Lurkers,” I said and took my battle stance.

            “I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” Blackout said wiggling his finger.  He walked over to Zoie and poked her forehead.  Her eyes widened the size as dinner plates, next thing I knew she was laying on the ground like she was dead.  “What did you do to her!” I demanded to him.  “I simply put her to sleep, I’ll do worse if you do anything stupid.” He said and snapped his fingers again and the Shadow Lurkers started walking towards me.  “I’ll let you live and your friends too if you stay out of my way.” He said pointing to Jason.

            “I don’t think that’ll work Blackout!” I heard from behind me, Luna was in mid-air and heading towards Blackout.  When she got close enough she punched him across the face so hard I heard it from where I was standing.  He fell over with a thump! And landed on his butt.  He got up and wiped his face, “not bad Luna, it’s been awhile, you need to improve though.” Blackout said still wiping his face. 

            “Wait till you see me!” I yelled and punched my fist in the air and a blast of ice burst out and hit Blackout.  He flew backwards and broke the tree behind him.  His sunglasses fell off, he looked at me, his eyes…they were blood red.
