Chapter 8 : Aang 💨 | The Two Dragons

"Aang, there you are!" Toph says, running up to me in exhaustion. 

"Where were you at break?" I ask furiously, rolling my eyes.

"I'm sorry, I was busy talking to Principal White. Did Katara not sit with you?" Toph asks respectfully. 

"She spends her break pro-bending with Coach Jha," I explain, annoyed. "Where were you again?"

"Principal White wanted to-"

"That's a lie!" I exclaim and Toph gasps. "I went to Principal White's office, and you weren't there!"

Toph shakes her head furiously. "What do you-"

"Who were you with?" I ask her angrily as we enter our next class.

"If I tell you, promise me you won't get mad?" Toph says and I nod. "I met up with Zuko-"

"YOU WHAT?" I ask, my eyes bulging.

"Aang is there a problem?" Lady Joo-Dee asks from the front, and all eyes turn to me.

"No, Lady Joo-dee," I say, turning to my notes. How embarrassing!

"You know you have a lot of explaining to do Toph," I tell her strictly as we head to our next lesson.

"I know, I know," she says hesitantly.

"I can't believe you would hang out with Zuko after he threw a football at you! Don't tell me you have a crush on him too," I sigh.

"Look Aang, Zuko's not that bad. If you make friends with him, he could help you with your fire-bending," Toph says.

To calm down, I take a deep breath. "What did Zuko say?" I ask Toph curiously.  

"He wanted to learn how to think like me, and then we became friends," Toph says quickly, and I feel faint.

The lunch bell rings and we both head to the cafeteria. I spot Sokka and Suki sitting on a circular table at the back and walk towards them.

"Hey Aang," Suki greets. "Aren't you guys gonna get any food?"

She turns to Toph who gets up from the table. "Yeah, I'll go get some cheese fries," she mumbles.

"I'll just go grab a sand-which real quick," I say before joining Toph at the back fo queue. 

"Aang wait!" Sokka calls.

I turn around. "What?"

"Where's Katara?"

"Yeah, where is she?" Suki asks, stuffing some crisps in her mouth.

"I don't know. I thought you would know," I reply, starting to get worried.

"I used to drive her to school but now she takes the bus, so I haven't seen her all morning," Sokka explains. 

"Maybe she's at the gym," Suki suggests. "She wanted to try out for the pro-bending team didn't she?"

"Pro-bending? But she's a-" Suki glares at him angrily. "Whatever."

I leave, and join Toph in the queue again, except now, she's at the front, being served by the catering team. 

"What would you like?" a lady asks from behind the counter.

"Cheese fries and a strawberry smoothie," Toph says, dumping her ID on the counter. "And I eat free."

"Toph Beifong? Well it is an honour to serve one of the Beifong family,," the lady replies humbly, passing Toph her food.

"Thank-you," Toph says elegantly, before sitting at an empty table.
