Ever since Aang introduced Yarla to Suki, they were inseparable. Yarla was a darling and Suki loved it. She dressed nice for someone who'd only worn tunics their whole life and had mostly the same hobbies as Suki.

Since they had a majority of lessons together, the two chatted non-stop and soon became inseparable. "You sit next to that hottie?" Yarla asked as they entered Miss Joo-dee's classroom.

"I guess," Suki replied quietly, approaching her desk at the back. Carlos was staring at her intensely, his gaze irresistible to avoid. Suki glanced at his foxy pools of gold and then quickly looked elsewhere. Shit, she felt like she was going to melt.

"Why is he looking at you like that?" Yarla whispered in Suki's ear.

"Like what?"

"Like he wants to kiss you so bad," Yarla teased and Suki reddened.

"That's disgusting," Suki said wearily, fixing the straps on her dress. "I would never date him." Liar!

"Hey," Carlos said as Suki sat down.

"Hi," Suki squeaked.

"I had no idea you and Mai were a thing," he began and she flushed pink, clearly embarrassed.  "And that you were gay."

"I'm not gay," Suki retorted, scrunching her nose.

"Good, because for a second I was worried," Carlos chuckled, leaning back on his chair. Worried?

"I still like Mai," Suki said, but it felt like a lie.

Immediately, Carlos' eyes popped. "What?"

"I told her I loved her, and she didn't care," Suki explained, suddenly exhausted. "She also tried to kill me."

"What!" Carlos snapped, almost falling face flat on the table.

"Mr Zhao, is there something you'd like to share with the class?" Miss Joo-dee asked.

"No miss," Carlos said, panicking.

"Really?" Miss Joo-dee raised a brow. "Well, since you both don't bother paying any attention to my lessons, why don't you present your homework to the class."

"What!" Suki halted. "The homework isn't due for another week!"

"Miss Oyaji, are you telling me you are not capable of performing a basic speech to the class?" Miss Joo-dee challenged.

"I can do it," Suki said immediately, and Carlos turned to her, horrified.

"We haven't started it yet," he hissed.

"I know," she snapped, getting up feistily. "Just be grateful I'm a good liar and have a bad ego."

Suki walked boldly to the front of the classroom and Carlos followed her, flashing charming smiles at any girls he could see on the way.

"Me and Carlos have chosen to present Law 302. The Avatar can not be arrested or murdered at all costs," Suki announced and the entire room fell silent. "It is the most biased law out there, which means it's also the most unsafe."

Suki gave  Carlos a look and he cleared his throat. "Why is the Avatar allowed to dismiss the consequences of their actions and we are not? He is a human just like everyone else and should follow the rules of the Republic like everyone else. I mean, it's only fair. Let me ask you something, what if there was an evil Avatar?" Carlos said, and some people sniggered, causing Suki to hit Carlos's hand.

"Carlos didn't mean to say the last part. Avatar Aang is my very close friend and definitely not a villain. Carlos simply means if there were an evil Avatar, how would we end him? The laws say we can not restrain him in anyway so, how would we put an end to his wicked plans?" Suki said in a rush.

"That is all we have worked on so far, Miss. As you may know, we were not prepared to present this so early," Carlos said, attempting to flirt with Miss Joo-dee.

Miss Joo-dee smiled, clearly amused. "Very well. You both will receive an A* for your hard work."

"Your welcome," Carlos whispered in Suki ear and their sudden contact made her freeze.
