Zuko had gotten himself tangled in Ty Lee's gossip system. He was stupid for getting high around people at school, especially when he is well aware of what he's like when that happens: clueless and very brave. He didn't even know someone had kissed him until the next day, when everyone at school was talking about it. Kat had slapped him and then stormed off with Toph, who was now dating Toa the looser.
What was going on?
He was oblivious in a situation where he should have been the most aware, and it was awfully humiliating.
"Who kissed you?" Aang and Yarla asked him as he came out of his last lesson of the day.
"I don't know."
"What do you mean, 'you don't know'?" Yarla asked, almost disgusted.
"I was high! I don't remember what happened," Zuko explained, ashamed.
"Was it Khori?"
"No."
"How do you know?"
"Because, Khori's not like that," Zuko said wearily. "We hooked up once and we regret it, so why would she kiss me again?"
"Abelia?"
"She wouldn't dare mess with me after what I did to her last term," Zuko said confidently.
"Maya?"
Zuko was silent. Suddenly, everything feel into place. Maya had kissed Zuko. She had very similar hair to Suki, so it was possible Ty Lee mistaken her for Su.
Aang and Yarla waited for Zuko to reply but he never did. Instead, he headed straight to the carpark where Kat was standing by his bike, arms crossed.
"Katara," Zuko said softly and she rolled the hell out of eyes. Zuko climbed onto his motorbike.
"I need a lift," Katara mumbled grumpily.
"Of course," Zuko said immediately, handing her a helmet. "Where to?"
"My house." Kat instantly sat behind him, fixing the helmet on her head in silence.
"I didn't cheat on you, Kat-" Zuko began, starting the engine.
"Can you shut up?" Kat snapped. "Do you think I give a fuck? Just drive me to my house!"
Katara meant everything to Zuko, so when he got home he was willing to kill Maya to win her back. He didn't cheat on her, or didn't mean to at least, and he couldn't bear seeing her this upset. He wanted to tell Katara how stupid he felt for not realising someone had kissed him until the whole school was talking about it, but instead he said, "Okay," and drove out of the car park.
