Chapter 29 : Sokka 🗡 | Blind Betrayal

Sokka was having the time of his life. Not really, but he'd like to think he was. School was suddenly fun, and with his new hair, girls were practically swooning over him.

It made Toph jealous, and Sokka liked it when Toph was jealous. 

"So, Ty Lee," Toph began between clenched teeth. "What's going on between you two?"

"She has the hots for me," Sokka smiled to himself but then frowned when Toph kicked him from under the table.

Sokka had only kissed Toph once, and that was at the Winter Formal. When Sokka tried to kiss her again, she dodged him.  Because of this, Sokka assumed dating blind people meant not having a physical relationship,  but Toph wasn't blind blind. She could feel Sokka coming up to her, and hear his heart beat. Sometimes Sokka found it creepy, so naturally Toph's super-natural abilities, turned him off. 

At break, Sokka found Suki sitting with Azula, and he instantly felt betrayed. Was Suki one of them now? He checked his messages, just to be sure.

Suki: janitor's closet after school

"What's wrong?" Toph asked, peering over at Sokka's phone. Scared, Sokka was about to hide it, but then didn't when he recalled Toph was blind. 

"Nothing."

"Who was that?" Toph inquired.

"No one." Sokka didn't know why he was lying, but it just came to him naturally. He didn't want to loose Toph, who was already sceptical about his relationship with Suki. "I was just looking at a photo of a ghost or whatever. You know they freak me out." They don't, but Sokka was very bad at making stuff up on the spot.

Sokka met Suki in the janitor's closet after school, just like she had requested. "What's wrong?" Sokka asked, taking a seat beside her on the floor. "Why didn't you sit with me at break?"

"Khori invited me to sit with her," Suki explained.

"Why did you call me here?"

"Mai told me that she didn't want to be in a relationship with me!" Suki blurted.

"Bullsh*t!" Sokka exclaimed. He would do anything to date Suki. But that didn't make any sense to him because he was with Toph. But was Toph not enough for him?

"I know," Suki sniffed. "She told me that if we were a couple, she'd die of embarrassment."

"Mai's clearly just stupid for not realising how lucky she is to have you," Sokka comforted Suki.

"Our argument got a little physical, you know, cos we were in Self-Defence, and, let's just say we're not partners anymore," Suki finished, leaving Sokka gaping intensely. "Did I mess up?" she asked, suddenly horrified.

"No, not at all," Sokka said immediately. "I'm actually glad things are over between you and Mai."

"You are?" Suki raised a brow.

"Yeah," Sokka replied, and their hands instantly touched. 

"Sokka-" Suki began, as their eyes had met slowly and cautiously. Suddenly, Sokka's lips were on hers and his hands were trailing up her waist eagerly. Suki clung at his neck, and eventually moaned, pressing her mouth to his, tugging at his hair.

Sokka's lips were swollen, but he didn't care. This kiss was all he'd thought about when he first met Suki, and even though he was with Toph, it still was. The thought of Suki dating some other guy made Sokka jealous and surely that meant he had feelings for her?

When Sokka began to suck at Suki's neck, she froze and then aggressively pushed him off. "We're so f*cked," she said, suddenly tense.

Sokka watched as Suki stood up and walked around in circles, muttering under her breath. That's when it hit Sokka. Like a bucket of cold water being dumped over his head, bringing him back to his senses. He was with Toph.

"No one can know about this Sokka," Suki told him as he stood up.

"I'll break up with Toph and, we can be together," Sokka blurted.

Suki laughed in his face.  "I'm not letting you do that," she said, suddenly serious.

"Why?"

"You're dating Toph Beifong, Sokka. All you've ever care about is money, and now that you have the key to opening the doors of your dreams you're denying it? What is wrong with you? Am I the only person in the world who goes after my ambitions?"

"I like you Suki."

"No you don't. You like Toph, Sokka. It's very clear that the only reason this happened, is because you were feeling rather h*rny," Suki snapped. After a while Sokka realised she was right.

Toph avoiding his kisses had bothered him so much he took his anger out on Suki. He used her, and now that he knew, he was humiliated.

"Pretend this never happened," Suki whispered to him before walking out of the room.

When Sokka eventually made his way to the school car park, he saw Luya standing around the school entrance. He rolled his eyes at her but then said out loud, "How long were stood out here?"

"Not long," Luya replied sadly. She's probably still upset Aang dumped her, Sokka thought, thinking about the fight earlier this morning.

"Did you see anything?" Sokka asked her.

Luya flushed pink. "No," she squeaked, covering her face.

Sokka shrugged his shoulders and proceeded to the car park. Luya better not have seen him and Suki.
