Mafia!AU

....... Let's not pretend I didn't update this book since January, okay? Okay.

................ But I have great excuses because I was focusing mainly on writing the "Carrying the Legacy" book for those who still don't know (which you should totally check out because it is my main focus here), and also launched a physical artbook!! Check out @itspaiiny on Instagram to see more details about that.

......................... With no further ado, ENJOY I SUPPOSE :)

The helicopter landed on the private island close to where the huge mansion stood in all of it's expensive and extravagant pride. Georges hopped out and pulled his curly bangs back as he took an attentive look around, already seeking for any escape routes if thing went out of hand, before helping Frances out once she had a dangerously high slit in her dark green dress.

"I don't like how corned up we are, Georges. Why did he even invite us?" She asked sharply, placing her hand in his arm as they took their way up to the mansion.

"You're the head of the Laurens family, of course he invited you," Georges chuckled in a low tone. "Sure, it is really delicate after last time but-"

"But we still have business, I know," She sighed in annoyance. "Where was my head when I made a deal with this bastard?"

"In his pants obviously."

Frances choked and stared at him with her mouth wide open, quickly looking at the people around and grimacing to prevent herself from yelling at him right there and then, grumbling to herself, "Next time I'm bringing Philip as my second."

Georges snickered as he bit his lips to conceal a laugh.

"Besides, you know why I did it. He better have something valuable to say or else God help me, I'm going to shoot him. But until it happens, keep a low profile. I don't want to repeat what happened in Prague."

"By what I recall, Prague was your fault," Georges rebuked with a smug smile, receiving an intense stare from the woman, and so he fell serious once again. They stopped in front of the men guarding the entrance, who Frances stared at with a stone expression before they allowed them to come inside.

The place had a triple-height ceiling and huge windows, an artificial waterfall in the living room lead a path of water until the infinite pool in the back. People chatted and laughed carelessly by the rails of the second floor and some already looked like had too many glasses. Fancy light pendants illuminated the place dimly, giving it a more intimate sensation as some people danced in the center of the room to the sound of a live band playing.

Georges fetched both of them a drink when a waiter passed by and clicked his tongue before speaking in a low voice, "Just our luck, seems like he is indeed here." He tilted his head and Frances looked in the direction he just pointed, her eyes meeting with Alfred Lee's when he turned at the same time.

He smirked at her, lifting his glass and then drinking without breaking eye contact.

It took all of Frances' willpower not to scowl and turned back at Georges, eyes closed as she tried to recompose, muttering under her breath, "Just great."

"Remember what you literally just said, we don't want to repeat Prague, do we?"

She sighed, "No."

"Then keep it together. We are going to get the Lees down, but it is not in here. First, we need to get through with this meeting." Georges eyed the stairs, "Do you want to go to the upper floor and get this over with already?"
