The castle was silent except for the footsteps of the students who were marched, against their own wills down the corridor in a group. The Halls were filled with misery and looked gloomy. Snape had called for all the students to be brought down to the Great Hall for an assembly after hearing the news about Harry being back.
Harry and I pulled us into our robes and followed the students towards Snape. Harry asked me to let him go alone but I refused and insisted to go with him so I could protect him told Ron and Hermione to wait for the Order. We arrived at the Hall, most of the student's head hung low. Snape stood at front at the highest point of the hall.
"Many of you are surely wondering why I have summoned you at this hour. It's come to my attention that earlier this evening, Harry Potter was sighted into Hogsmeade." Snape's cold voice rung out. "Now should anyone, students or staff attempt to aid Mr. Potter they will be punished in a manner consistent with severity of their transgression. Furthermore any person found to have knowledge of these events, who fails to come forward, will be treated as equally as guilty. Now then if anyone here has any knowledge of Mr. Potter's movements this evening..."
He trailed off and before could finish speaking, Harry and I came out of cover and stood in front of the crowd.
The crowd broke out into whispers and mumbles at he fact that Harry appeared at Hogwarts after weeks of being missing.
"Oh well, Potter and Knight... how lovely to see you both again." Snape said, bitterly.
Harry had moved into the isle of the crowd now and I joined next to him, standing up to Snape with our heads held up high.
"It seems, despite your exhaustive defensive strategies you still have a bit of a security problem, Headmaster." Harry announced.
Just then the door behind us pushed opened, the Order entered with Remus, Tonks, Kingsley, Hermione and all the Weasleys.
"How dare you stand where he stood?" Harry asked, pain in his voice. "Tell them how it happened that night. Tell them how you looked them in the eye, a man who trusted you, and killed him. Tell them."
Snape hesitated for a moment then pulled out his wand from his robes and pointed it straight to Harry. McGonagall and I quickly jumped in front of Harry to protect him. The whole room spreaded into the walls in fear.
McGonagall fired a spell first which Snape blocked with ease. Next seeing her, I threw a spell at him after what seemed like I got the permission to attack him since she did. We both moved forward firing every spells we knew and he kept blocking them successfully. Snape then caught McGonagall's spell and moved it behind him, disintegrating the Death Eaters to the floor. He then swung his cloak and flew out of the window of the castle.
Everyone erupted in applause as Snape left. McGonagall used her wand to light up the dark room back into it's good old state.
Harry then suddenly fell down to the floor. I quickly called out and crouched beside him placing my hand over his head.
"Harry! Are you alright? Talk to me!"
The room again fell silent. The same tension came back and a girl started screaming. Then another scream came out from a girl. Both were holding their heads and just then a voice started speaking.
"I know many of you will want to fight. Some of you may even think that to fight is wise. But this is folly. Give me Harry Potter. Do this and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter and I shall leave Hogwarts untouched. Give me Harry Potter and you shall be rewarded. You have one hour." Voldemort announced to the Hall.
Everyone in the hall was staring at Harry. I looked at him protectively. If anyone was about to go against us then we will fight them for Harry. We were ready to help Harry to destroy Voldemort.
"What are you waiting for? Someone grab him!" Pansy stood out from the crowd.
Ginny and I jumped in front of Harry, showing her that Harry has his defenders with him and no one would be able to harm him, only over our dead bodies.
"Students out of bed! Students in the corridors!" Filch ran into the Hall, shouting.
"They're supposed to be you blithering idiot. Now go and do something constructive." McGonagall spat. "If you would please, Slytherin house should be moved back to their common roon in the dungeon except for Miss Knight. And if someone would be most kind in taking Miss Parkinson back too."
The whole room erupted in cheers except for the Slytherins that were being escorted to the dungeons by Filch.
"I presume you have a reason for returning Potter. What is it that you need?" McGonagall asked Harry.
"Time Professor. As much as you can give me." Harry begged.
"Do what you have to. I'll secure the castle." McGonagall said. "Oh and Potter. It's good to see you."
"Good to see you too Professor." Harry smiled and left.
The others went their separate ways as Harry ran off into other direction while I stayed with Neville.
"I need you two to destroy entrance bridge at the back of Hogwarts. Blow it to the ground!" McGonagall ordered.
"Blow it up? Boom?" Neville asked with excitement.
"Boom!" McGonagall confirmed.
I grabbed Neville's arm and quickly pulled us back through the castle. There, we headed to the back where the bridge.
We arrived and saw Seamus and Ginny standing at the top end of the bridge, inside the archway of the Hogwarts. We then saw a group of Death Eaters waiting for an entrance inside the school.
We ran, and passed through the protection barrier. We stopped and looked at the magical blue dome, confused. I looked at the Death Eaters and saw them standing with a smug look on their faces. Just then, we heard large cracks from above our heads. The protective barrier around Hogwarts had now fallen.
We then saw a Death Eater placing his one foot carefully over where the forcefield once was. After they knew it was safe for them, they erupted in roars and began running towards us.
Neville quickly grabbed my hand and we sprinted into a run. We ran as fast we could so that the swarming Death Eaters following behind, couldn't catch us. We then felt spells being fired at us. Neville and I ducked everytime a spell was about to hit us.
Suddenly the bridge started collapsing, sending some Death Eaters to their deaths. We kept tight holds on each other and pushed our legs to the end of the bridge. The bridge finally fell down in the deep water as we dangled on the edge of the cliff. Neville and I put our whole upper body strength and pulled ourselves up to the deck. Ginny then helped us up to safety.
I laid on the floor on my back, panting as Neville did the same. Seamus and Ginny stood there waiting for us to get moving.
"That went well." Neville breathed.
