Chapter 9

I lied I have no other ideas so let's jump into the sports festival. Also I'm sorry for being gone for so long I have been busy.

(Y/n)'s P.O.V.

I sat in the waiting room, tapping my foot on the ground, and wanting the sports festival to just start. This is my chance, I can show everyone I'm worthy of being a hero. I stood up and elongated the staff I had gotten permission to use and just twirled it around, having something to do with my hands made me feel much calmer already. I turned my head and noticed Denki smirking at me. 

"What?"

"Don't knock anyone out before the sports festival." He teased and I compressed my weapon. 

"Shut up, don't act like you aren't nervous as well." I said and he laughed, 

"Now I he no idea what your talking about-" 

"You made me train with you about 500 times in the past few weeks before the sports festival." I cut him off and he blushed and muttered something I couldn't understand. I kept an eye on the room and noticed Todoroki talking to Midoryia.

"Todoroki, what is it?" 

"Objectively speaking  I think I'm stronger than you." Todoroki said and I narrowed my eyes, He's going somewhere with this... "But All Might has his eye on you doesn't he?" I nearly dropped my staff. I hadn't noticed that but when I thought back to it, the training exercise, All might constantly wanting to talk to him, it was all making sense now. "But I'm going to beat you." Midoryia stood in silence for a moment before speaking, 

"Todoroki I don't know what you're thinking when you say you're going to beat me but of course you're better than me, in fact I think you're more capable than most people here. But thats why I'll be going at it with everything I got as well." Todoroki said nothing and just nodded. 

"Oi!" Bakugo was yelling now, "You made your declaration of war with the wrong person half and half! And you," He looked over at me and I raised an eyebrow, "I still don't know how you managed to out score me in that stupid training exercise but just know I'm going to beat you today you quirkless bastard." I started towards him, feeling Denki grab my arms to hold me back. 

"What did you just call me!?" 

"Alright, who's ready for this years 1st year UA sports festival!?" I heard Mic's voice and yanked myself out of my friends arms to go to the field, resisting the temptation to smack that egotistic bastard upside the head. We all walked out into the field and I listened to the voice hero announce all of the classes as they joined us. "First up we have the infamous class that has already survived a villain attack, Class 1-A! Then, well they haven't been in the spotlight yet but are still just as important, Class 1-B!" He announced the rest of the classes and afterwards Midnight came out giving half the men and boys around nosebleeds. 

"Alright before we get started Katsuki Bakugo will be giving the opening remarks!" I bit back a groan, this was gonna go badly. The hotheaded blonde stepped up to the podium and leaned into the microphone. 

"I just wanna say... I'm gonna win." I slapped my forehead and dragged my hand down my face. I knew it... Everyone around us started booing and it took Midnight a second to regain everyones attention. 

"Alright for the first challenge we have... An obstacle course!" I blinked, this seemed almost tame for UA but I figured they had active mines on the course or something. "3, 2, 1, Start!" I worked on making my way through the crowd, and suddenly felt the air grow cold. I looked down and laughed, Ice had stopped just before my toes. I pushed through and skated along,

"Thanks a lot Todoroki! Guess who took ice-skating classes in her youth!?" Todoroki just looked ahead but I could tell this plan of his hadn't worked as well as he thought. I followed him under the robots then stopped. There was a giant chasm with just ropes to get across. The staff in my pocket wasn't going to help, and people were beginning to come through I braced myself and tried walking across like and acrobat but slipped and ended up hanging on by my fingers. with all my upper body strength I made my way across the rope and tried to pull myself up but was grabbed by a pair of familiar hands.  

"You ok?" Denki asked and I nodded, 

"Yeah, just shaken." I lowered myself down and copied Tsu across the rest of the ropes. I made it across and laughed. Well looks like theres active mines. I slowly started to make my way across the field, listening to the sounds of explosions behind me. a giant one caused me to stumble in surprise and I rolled over as I accidentally set off a mine. Staff, still in pocket- what the hell is Midoryia doing? I watched for a second as Midoryia flew over all our heads before continuing to move, faster this time and I made it out of the minefield, then to the end of the course. 

"And in 6th place we have (Y/n) (L/n)!" I bent over, hands on my knees, and even though I was trying to catch my breath I was grinning like an idiot. Iida came soon after me, then Denki in 24th. He tackled me from behind and we ended up on the ground laughing, 

"Get off me you big dork!" 

"Were both advancing to the next round! Next up finals!" I shoved Denki off of me and we just sat on the ground laughing. I took a breath and just looked at him. He really was adorable, and I felt my mood lift ten fold after that interaction. I shook out my head suddenly, Wait why am I having these thoughts? I think mom and dads teasing is getting to me... 

Hey guys! Again I am so sorry I've been gone for so long and unfortunately there will be more infrequent updates because I have in person school but I will try and update as often as I can!
