I have to admit despite being one myself sometimes really energetic people got on my nerves, mostly when I was tired.
But also this particular overly energetic kid took my snark for, well...
"Hah! I love your enthusiasm! You are a very passionate person and I'd love to go against you one day!"
"Thank you...?"
We mingled with the other schools for a few more minutes and watched as Ms Joke very aggressively flirted with a very uninterested Mr Aizawa then it was time to go in. Everyone changed into their hero costumes than met up in a large lobby with a man who looked like he got less sleep than Mr Aizawa at the front of the room behind a podium.
"Welcome to the provisional licensing exam... lets get this over with so I can sleep." Ugh poor guy. "Our first exam is one of speed and combat. You will all have three targets on your person. If all three of them are hit you are disqualified. The person who hits your last target gets the claim for your disqualification. Get two people out and you move on."
In hindsight this sounded simple. But also this was a hero licensing exam so,
"Like I said this is a test of speed. Now more than ever we need heroes at the scenes of the crime quickly. This means only the first 100 people will pass."
There we go.
"But wait they said half of us will be passing. This means its just under 10%." Tsu said nervously.
"Its like he said, we'll have to be fast." I said and we all grabbed our targets. I stuck mine on the side of my right leg, lower torso, and left shoulder. I followed the class to the center of a rocky mountain zone and listened to Midoryia talk.
"We should all stick together. Because of the sports festival they know our quirks- er fighting styles."
"Its fine Midoryia. I hear your point, because of the UA sports festival it would be better to stick together so we can fight them off as a group."
"Don't tell me what to do!" Bakugo stormed off with Kirishima following behind.
"I'm gonna make sure he doesn't kill anyone." I said and ran off after the two boys, Denki close on my heels. "You can't live without me can you?"
"Nope!" I laughed and rolled my eyes, continuing to follow after my friends. We soon slowed to a walk and I began to clench and unclench my fists nervously.
"There were so many people in the lobby. This arena can't be that big, where is everyo-" I watched in shock as Kirishima shoved Bakugo out of the way, only to be hit by a meatball made of what looked like human flesh. The flesh ball molded my friend till he looked the same as whatever attacked him, just with the addition of bits of his costume and hair poking out as well as an eye.
"What the hell is that!?" Denki exclaimed and I easily spotted our attacker. He had purple hair, narrow eyes, and what looked like a high collared black trench coat on. He narrowed his eyes from underneath his Shiketsu cap.
"This is a demonstration of power. Shiketsu has placed great importance on obligation and dignity since the start of our education." His gaze turned to me, "Inasa overestimated you. You have no power, you have no business being here."
"Oh fuck you."
"Hm, vulgar too."
"You know you act all high and mighty but I know what your doing. The moment we hit you your hold on these people loosens. Your just trying and failing to intimidate us."
"Uh babe speak for yourself he's kind of creepy..."
"Shut up!" Bakugo grinned at our opponent, "I hate your type the most you know."
"UA I respect you. I felt that you might be able to measure up to our school, however your class has done nothing but erode that respect, you especially Bakugo." Large, disembodied fingers made seeming only of flesh appeared from behind his back. Bakugo released a flurry of explosions, that grin still on his face.
"That was a scattershot version of my new move, AP Shot: Auto Cannon"
"I'll have to beat this lesson into you. Acting with class befitting ones institution, that's the meaning of dignity."
"Keep flapping those lips if you want to die!" Bakugo lunged for the kid and Denki shot one of his projectiles. Suddenly Bakugo was taken by one of the flesh things and was made into the same sort of ball as Kirishima.
But not before he tossed one of the grenades on his belt into my hands.
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"I understand slinging insults around but this is stupid. Heck how do you even know it will work?"
"I'm from Shiketsu, the best school in Japa-"
"Yeah I wasn't talking to you." I threw the grenade and it went off by his feet, causing him to jump out of the way. "Oh look at that." He was right in line with one of Denki's projectiles. Denki shot a bolt of lightning through the kid and his grip loosened on my friends, though he didn't realize it. "Bakugo is an arrogant prick but he's a hero through and through. There are different kinds of heroes, clearly your a stupid one."
"Wha-" Kirishima and Bakugo hit him with a double attack and I walked up, tagging all three of his targets. "A smart hero would have seen I was just distracting them."
"Sparkplug tell your girlfriend to shut the fuck up and stop antagonizing this bastard, everyones waking up."
"Excuse me I'm standing right here."
"Ok break it up you two. Bakugo's right, we should rack up wins before these people come fully too." Denki interjected. I nodded and cracked my knuckles, looking at the crowd of disoriented people.
"Lets do this."
