"Hey, Ochako." I snapped in front of my friends face and she jumped out of her stupor.
"Sorry what were we talking about?"
"Are you ok? You seem a little tense." Tsu asked, a bit worried and Ochako grinned,
"Yep! Everything's going great, I'm just getting started!" I raised an eyebrow at her and she sighed. "That's normally what I would say but... lately it feels like my hearts been all stirred up and my minds been all over the place lately..."
"I'm no expert but I think its love!" Mina squealed and this sent Ochako into maximum fluster overload.
"What I've never seen a dove before!"
"Who is it, Midoryia or Iida? You're always hanging around those two!"
"You got the wrong idea really!"
"Mina lay off of her, she's floating." I sighed but then smirked, leaving my elbows on my knees and putting my chin in my hands.
"I wouldn't say I'm an expert but its definitely love."
"Not an expert? You're the only one of us here with a boyfriend!" Tooru exclaimed and Kyoka looked behind us.
"Who's currently eating a pack of triple a batteries..."
"Yeah he does that. It doesn't hurt him though, actually helps him recharge." Mina nudged me with her shoulder,
"How is your relationship going?" I felt my cheeks turn pink and I smiled at my strawberry milk carton.
"Its kind of weird because its not much different than from when we were just friends but also it feels like everything's changed. Denki certainly isn't shy with the pet names." Mina pretended to swoon and Ya-Momo smiled, standing up and taking everyone's milk cartons.
"We should go to bed, we have an early morning tomorrow after all." I nodded and stood up, stretching.
"I need a breath of fresh air first. Don't worry I'm just going onto the porch." I headed outside and leaned on the porch railing, taking a deep breath. I was definitely nervous for the provisional exams tomorrow. I'd been training with Aizawa but-
A voice broke through my thoughts.
"All Might, I've been thinking. When you and I first met you said a quirkless person couldn't be a hero. But (L/n) is one of the best in our class."
"Midoryia my boy I was going off of prior knowledge and experience. If I had believed it to be a possibility then I would have said differently."
"Ok... well I guess if it weren't for that interaction I probably wouldn't have One For All now."
"That's a good way to think about it." I darted back inside and muttered a hurried good night to Denki as I ran up into my dorm room, shutting the door behind me.
"Be honest how much sleep did you get last night?"
"Like 5 hours."
"Your eye bags say differently m'lady." I rolled my eyes at Denki but I really wasn't telling the truth. I'd gotten maybe 3 hours of sleep in total because my mind was racing over what I'd heard.
Was Midoryia once quirkless?
Did All Might really say something like that?
And what the hell is One For All?
The best I could do to rationalize any of it was this-
All Might was probably worried about his safety as a pro (a lot like my parents with me). Quirks that were only activated in specific situations were a thing, it could have seemed like Midoryia was quirkless and then his quirk activated.
I just couldn't think of anything to explain One For All though. It was a cool name for a quirk but there was something about the way Midoryia said it that made it sound much more meaningful.
Almost like a secret the two of them shared.
Maybe I should talk to Todoroki about that theory of his...
"PLUS ULTRA!" I was pulled out of my thoughts by a very tall boy wearing a Shiketsu cap came up behind us, my guess cutting into the rest of the class chant.
"Inasa its not polite to cut into other peoples pep talks."
"My apologies!" He slammed his head into the ground, "I am deeply sorry!"
"You're bleeding." I pointed out but he either didn't hear me or was ignoring me.
"I just love UA so much and wanted to say the chant just once!"
"Um excuse me, overenthusiastic guy! I'm a good 5' 6" I know you can hear me. You. Are. Bleeding!" He touched his forehead and looked at the blood as if noticing it for the first time.
"Ah, thank you for telling me. You were in the UA sports festival! I remember you, you were the quirkless one!" My guess was this kid either had impulse control issues and was naturally loud. The moment he said that it felt like everyone's gaze was on me and I took a deep breath gritting my teeth.
Normally I wouldn't try provoking someone who had a good eight inches on me but lack of sleep and the irritability of him saying this out loud like it was my only memorable trait got to me.
As students from other hero schools watched like they had nothing better to do I said loud enough for my voice to be heard by all of them,
"And? I'll get the top scores here, just you wait."
