Chapter 56: Ian's Feelings

Emi's pov

It has been a few days since Anna told us that she liked Ian, both Haruhi and I kept trying to talk to her more about it but she just didn't want to delve any deeper into the whole thing. I sighed, sitting down at our table as class started. Akihiko, Ian, Haruhi, Hikaru, Kaoru, and I were all still working on the project for the class together. I sat in between Haruhi and Akihiko, while Kaoru and Ian sat across from us with Hikaru sitting at the head of the tables. We had a few days before it was due and we were only halfway done with it, partly because we got busy with other homework and Akihiko can't stop arguing with Ian. Class seemed to start off smoothly as Ian seemed rather quiet, while Akihiko mainly kept to himself. But the one thing I noticed was that Ian seemed to be in a horrible mood, not angry, but he looked sad. Extremely sad, which concerned me. I looked over at Kaoru, the both of us making eye contact as we sat in confusion. "So..." Haruhi broke the awkward silence that had settled over the table and all eyes went to her. "What do we think the slideshow should look like? Since we already got started on the presentation board, I was thinking that we should start working on the slideshow." She suggested, "I say that we make it look fabulous. Like me." Ian scoffed at Akihiko's comment, which ticked Akihiko off. "Got something to say, poser?" Akihiko stated, looking over at Ian. It seemed the moment he said that, Ian got really angry.

"Who are you calling Poser, you narcissist?"

"You."

Ian glared harshly at Akihiko who only smirked, making the four of us sigh. "Guys, can we focus on our project? We only have one week left to get it all done." I looked to both of them, "Yeah, well tell that to Mr. I can't keep my hands to myself. He's the one who's always picking fights with me." Ian started, making me groan. "Listen Mr. Sourpuss. Don't get angry with me for being able to get the ladies' with my flawless looks and amazing personality, while you can't even bother to get the girl you like with just your charming personality." Akihiko said, the look in his eyes showing just how amused he looked. But Ian's reaction was one that I didn't expect at all, he suddenly stood to his feet and stormed out of the classroom without saying a word. Before he left, I managed to get a look at his face and saw tears in the corners of his eyes. I don't know why but in that exact moment, something in me snapped and I got really pissed off. I could also feel my heart hurt for Ian, because he already seemed so sad and it seemed like he was going through something. I slammed my hands down, startling everyone at the table and everyone looked to me.

"Emi?" Hikaru called.

"You are such a jerk, Akihiko! For once in your life care about the things you say and how it affects someone! You had no reason to say all of that to him! You had no right! I don't understand why you think the girls in this school will just throw themselves at you when they already have much better people (The Host Club) who make them feel good without being a world class arse of a narcissist!!" I snapped, making him look at me with wide eyes. "The world doesn't revolve around you, Akihiko! I can see why most don't want you as a friend! You don't seem to even care about what you do and how I affects the people around you. And you wonder why I never would give you the chance or time of day! Learn how to care about everyone else!!" I added, "I'm going after him. When I get back, Haruhi, Hikaru, Kaoru, let's finish this stupid project. If I'm not back soon, start without me!" I took off running, ignoring the yells of the teacher, who Haruhi managed to calm down. As I ran down the hallway, I asked several students who were changing classes if they had seen Ian. Most of them said no but a few pointed in the direction he ran, which eventually led me out to the garden.

As I was running around, I suddenly heard sniffling coming from one corner of the garden. I stopped running, taking a deep breath and headed towards it. When I rounded the corner, I found myself standing in front of the little gazebo that Tamaki-senpai, Haruhi and I had hidden under. Sitting under the gazebo was Ian, who looked like he had been crying.

"Ian.."

"What?"

"Are you alright?"

"Does it look like I'm alright? What are you doing here?" He said, his eyes stayed glued to the ground in front of him. He didn't bother to look up at me, the whole time I was standing there.

"I followed you out here after telling off Akihiko."

"You told off Akihiko?" He chuckled, "Yeah.. I did. And I called him a bunch of names. I called him a world class arse of an narcissist." Ian let out another light chuckle, smiling to himself lightly. "I would have loved to have seen the look on his face when you called him that." He shook his head, "Yeah, he looked at me like I grew another head." I smiled lightly, crossing my arms.

"Why did you come after me?" Ian asked, "You didn't have too. But you did. You probably don't even like me. All I do around you is annoy you to no end when I argue with that narcissist. Why come after me?" He asked, finally looking up at me. Our eyes locked and in that moment, I could see that he was in pain.

"I wanted to come talk to you. You seemed so sad and it really bothered me because you are genuinely a nice, happy person. Besides, it looked like you needed a friend to talk to and listen to you. You can talk to me, Ian. What's wrong?" I walked closer to him, before crouching down and taking a seat on the ground. He stayed quiet for a moment, before letting out a sigh.

"You remember the girl that I like?"

"Well, yeah. I am helping you with trying to express your feelings towards her."

"I did."

"And?"

"She's moving away.. To the U.S. And she's leaving next week."

"So she rejected you."

"Yeah.. She said that she wouldn't have minded going on a date with me.. But because she's leaving.. We won't get that chance." He looked so heartbroken and it broke my heart, I never thought this would be the end result.

"Oh, Ian. I'm so sorry. I know how much you liked her." I saw the tears form in his eyes, making me want to cry with him. I moved forward and immediately pulled him into a hug, which seemed to have caught him off guard. "If you need to cry, go ahead and cry. I'm here and I promise to always be here when you need a shoulder to cry on. After all, what are friends for if not to be there for one another when things are rough. So cry, Ian. Don't hold it in. I know how it feels to not be able to be with someone you like because they are leaving. It's okay to cry." It seemed like that was the best thing for him to hear because the next thing I knew, he had fully wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close and he started crying. I just held him, rubbing circles on his back and just let him cry.

~Hours later~

When I returned to class with Ian in tow, everything from there seemed to go over smoothly. We got a lot done with the project and Akihiko didn't bother picking a fight Ian, although he did tease Kaoru who nearly lost it. At the moment, I was currently in the club room and getting changed when the curtain was shoved back. I said nothing, as I stared at who was standing there with his eyes closed. "Oh my goodness, Emi!! My lovely daughter, I heard you told off Akihiko and was a shoulder to cry on for Ian. I knew you had a big heart, but what you did was amazing!! I'm so proud of you!!" Tamaki-senpai smiled, his violet eyes opened and he immediately became red, as did I. Since I was not in a shirt, I was covering my chest with my arms. He started to stammer, becoming embarrassed. "Tamaki-senpai!!!" Kaoru's voice rang out, as he saw what was happening. Tamaki looked back at him, his face dangerous red and his eyes wide from the shock.

Kaoru looked away from him, his eyes landing on me and he immediately blushed red. The two of us stared at one another for a minute, before he snapped out of it and anger quickly appeared on his face. "Tamaki-senpai!!! You pervert!!! How could you walk in on Emi, my girlfriend, changing?!!! Close the curtain!!!" Tamaki-senpai panicked, he turned back to me and shouted an apology before quickly shutting the curtain. I then heard more of Kaoru's shouting and the sound of rushing footsteps, I slipped on my shirt and finished getting dressed. Still a little shocked from the fact that he had walked in on me and that Kaoru saw me.
