Chapter 14: The Refreshing Battle in Karuizawa

Emi's pov

Haruhi and I were currently in Karuizawa for summer break, Dad was busy with work so we had come here and stayed with a family friend. It was nice of Misuzu to take us both in for break, so since we were staying with her, Haruhi and I were given work to do. We hadn't told anyone that we would be gone for break, since Haruhi didn't want to be bothered by the host club members, especially Tamaki and I didn't blame her. Haruhi and I were outside in a small field outside of Misuzu's place, hanging up the sheets to dry. I smiled brightly as we were hanging up the sheets, "Emi, what's gotten you in a such a smiling mood?" Haruhi looked over at me, "I just like the fact that you and I get to spend so much time together in a place like this." I smiled at her, "I know. It's so peaceful and beautiful, I can see why people like coming here. I'm just glad that we don't have to deal with Tamaki-senpai and the others for a bit." Haruhi smiled, as she hung up another sheet. "Yeah, I may like Tamaki-senpai but he can be such a pain in the butt. And there's nothing wrong with Honey-senpai, I'm just glad to have not been eating all those sweets, Honey-senpai eats at school. I've been loving the fresh fruit Misuzu gives me in the morning." I grabbed a set of shirts, standing on my tippy toes and tried to hang them up. Luckily, Haruhi saw that I was struggling and decided to help me.

"I just hope Tamaki-senpai doesn't find out where we went." She sighed, "Well, I doubt he knows.. But Kyoya-senpai might know." I looked over at her, "Let's hope for our sake, he doesn't tell him. I don't want to see Tamaki-senpai and the others." Just as Haruhi said that, the wind picked up and we heard the loud sound a helicopter nearby. "What in the hell?" I looked up, spotting a helicopter flying over head.

"HARUHI, EMI WE'RE HERE TO SAVE YOU, CLIMB THE LADDER!" Tamaki-senpai shouted from a megaphone, as the helicopter hovered above Haruhi and I.

I couldn't believe this, they followed us all the way here. Why did they follow us here? Why? Couldn't they have just stayed home? Misuzu is thrilled with the handsome boys showing up, which only led me to be annoyed. "Why would you guys agree to work when we all invited you on vacation with us?" Hikaru asked, before I could answer his question Tamaki grew angry at the fact he didn't know that they had done this.

"Togetherness is our guiding principle," Tamaki-senpai said, making me sigh. Which is why he further flips out upon, learning that the twins had given Haruhi and I a cellphone. To which the twins say that they are each in one another's top five, including mines. I groaned and followed the boys, Haruhi and Misuzu inside. I was pulled into a bone crushing hug by the one and only Tamaki-senpai, but I was too annoyed for hugs at the moment.

"Get off me, Tamaki-senpai." I said coldly, Tamaki let go and they all shivered in fright. Misuzu, Haruhi, Mori and Kyoya were the only ones unfazed by my mood. "Why can't you guys give us a break? All I wanted was a peaceful summer break without you fools and enjoying my time here with Haruhi and Misuzu." I asked, whining loudly. In response, Honey-senpai gave me a hug and I let out a sigh of exhaustion. The Host club members were great and everything, I loved them.. But right now, I just wanted them to leave. We see them all the time at school, so why couldn't Haruhi and I have a summer break without them?

"So, who are all of these handsome boys?" Misuzu asked, turning to us. "That's Tamaki, our club leader and our ''father''," I introduced, pointing to him while he flirted with some girls. "Then there is Kyoya-senpai. He's the vice president and the club's "mother"." Kyoya-senpai gave Misuzu a small greeting, as I turned to Honey-senpai and Mori-senpai. "Honey and Mori-senpai are from big martial arts families and Honey is my boyfriend. And finally the Hitachiin twins who are my best buddies in the club." I finished introducing to Misuzu to the boys.

"You know that working a job while attending Ouran Academy is against the rules." Kyoya reminded, making me glare at him. Tamaki agrees with Haruhi but says that the hosts have the same right to do as they choose. Indulging his Theater of the Mind, with a romantic fantasy of Haruhi serving him breakfast in bed at the pension.

"I'm sorry boys, but only one room here is vacant." Misuzu informed, which I really didn't want them to know. "I should stay here of course, considering I am Club President." Tamaki-senpai stated, "What about your togetherness philosophy? Huh, boss." The twins reminded Tamaki-senpai, which made me sigh.

"Hey, that isn't fair." Honey-senpai complained, why can't they all go home? The twins then suggest a competition to impress Misuzu, that the winner getting the room. Hold the phone, did she just say the winner gets the room? Misuzu loves the idea, "Refreshing is the name of the game." I let out a puff of air, as I realized none of them would be leaving. Tamaki and Honey work on repairing a picket fence; the twins serve as bellboys while Mori hoists a table in need of repair with one hand, earning him valuable "refresher points."

"Misuzu, what are refresher points?" Haruhi asked, looking to Misuzu. "Karuizawa's refreshing natural beauty includes refreshingly beautiful young men and with the hosts working at my pension, will become the latest hot spot." Misuzu explained, making me groan. Why did we need to do this in the first place? Can't they all just go back home?

"Don't you guys have any other place to stay?" Kyoya-senpai asked, looking to the other hosts. "Yes, each of us have a family cabin in this general area." This statement got me angry, as an irk mark appeared om my temple.

"You know what?" I said, blowing a puff of air. "You guys are idiots." I finished.

Kyoya wasn't in the slightest bit interested in the competition between the hosts, which made me the least bit thankful. At least that is one less host to worry about, but to be honest I wanted all of them to go home. I love the host members, I really do but right now I hated them. I hated them for ruining Haruhi and I's summer break without them, Misuzu, Haruhi and I were just fine. Honey was talking with Misuzu and walked out of the door, which made me curious. We heard a crash and then a scream, as Tamaki-senpai and I headed around the corner. I saw that Kaoru hovered over Haruhi and had a line of blood on his cheek, which made me worry for both of their sakes. Hikaru came over and put on their brotherly act on, Misuzu seemed to have liked it and deemed them the winners.

The next morning, Tamaki appeared with a covered salver and a smack on the head to each twin. He describes the local cuisine like a native, prompting Haruhi to reveal that he's been with Misuzu all morning. Intrigued by the concept of "refreshing," he's also written a manual and developed a workshop for the hosts to attend. His high hopes are dashed when the twins remind him of Kyoya's and Honey's bad tempers, when they wake up. We were all talking, when the door opened and Arai was standing there with a crate in his hands while Annabelle stood next to him.

"Haruhi, Emi." I squealed, jumping on both of them. "I missed you guys!" I cried out, still attached to them. The two just chuckled, while all the hosts were standing there with blank faces. I guess they were surprised to see how I reacted to these random people, I was just too happy to see them. Haruhi smiled at him and hugged Annabelle, as we finally were able to catch up with them. I couldn't believe they had been here all this time, I was so happy to see them both.
