The next day

It was raining quite heavily in L.A today so everyone was hanging out inside as opposed to the asphalt café. Despite the terrible weather, Tori was still in a state of euphoria. Her friend's were all doing good (with the exception of V and Ryder), she was finally actually dating Beck and she was going to perform the opening number of the end of the year showcase. Okay she didn't actually know
("But cmon") She thought to herself. ("It's obviously going to be me.")

Just then, Helen appeared at the top of the stairs and cleared her throat and the chatter died down as the student turned their attention to the principle. Tori and her main group of friends were sitting around the lockers. She'd noticed a couple of things with her friend's this morning, Robbie had kept shooting sad glances towards the girl Tori recognised as Christine. B had filled the group in on what had happened after her brother had vented to her about it.

Tori felt sympathy for the boy, she saw how much he struggled with Rex and how at this point he might not even be able to get rid of the puppet without some serious therapy. Tori had also caught glimpses of Christine looking back at the boy with a conflicted expression. It was clear to Tori that Christine had obvious feelings for Robbie. Robbie didn't see it but then he wasn't used to girl's paying him much attention whatsoever. Tori hoped that he would patch things with Christine cause Tori thought they would make a cute couple.

The other thing that Tori had noticed was that Jade had been staring daggers at her the whole morning. It was obvious that Jade definitely had problems with Tori and Beck's new relationship and the fact that the pair had been casually holding hands the whole time had not sat well with Jade clearly. Tori, however, chose to ignore Jade. Tori was done putting Jade's happiness above her own when Jade would never do the same. Plus, Jade had her own girlfriend that she was actively ignoring, and who had a clear expression of sadness on her face.

Helen unfolded a piece of paper as she began to read an announcement.                                            "Now I'm you're all curious as to who will be preforming the end of the year showcase. After a long deliberation we have finally settled on our singer."

Tori closed her eyes as a smile creeped across her face as she expected to hear her name to be called out.

"Cat Valentine."

Tori's eyes widened with shock as her name was in fact not called out but instead the name of her red headed friend. As everyone was congratulating the girl Tori couldn't shake the shock of the revelation. ("This can't be right.") She thought to herself. ("There has to be some kind of mistake.)

After the commotion of the reveal had died down Tori broke away from her group and searched for the twins. She quickly found them and called out to them.
"V! B! Wait up!" she called as the two turned to face her.

V was lacking his usual smile and upbeat attitude, replaced instead with a subdued one.  "What's the matter Miss Vega?" V said in a tired voice.

"What happened?" Tori asked.

"You're going to need to be a bit more specific." B said flatly.

"How come Cat is doing the showcase?" Tori asked with impatience.

The twins glanced at each other before turning back to the girl.                                                          "Because she was the best for the job." B responded simply.

Tori scoffed rudely.                                                                                                                              "Cmon! I always do this kind of thing. I'm the obvious choice!"
