Tori and Trina were sitting in the living room watching tv. Their father was upstairs in his room. It's where he spent most of his time now. The LAPD had allowed him to take some time off on account of his ongoing divorce so he spent most of his days locked in his room.

Holly had moved back into her parents place while the divorce was being sorted. The only time the Vega sisters had seen their mother was in court where they gave their accounts on their parents relationship.
(I don't really know how these things work so I apologies if this is hella inaccurate)

Tori and Trina had also made an effort to actually spend more time together, not knowing where exactly they'd be spending their time. Both of the girls are over 18 so custody isn't something they need to worry about, however, no longer having the income of his ex wife meant that David would significantly struggle to support both girls, especially considering how much the divorce lawyer was going to cost, meaning one of them would either need to live with their mother or find a place of their own.

So here they sat, watching old episodes of survivor, just enjoying being able to spent some time as sisters. The two haven't always seen eye to eye, but after everything that had happened, with Trina's pregnancy and abortion, and now the divorce has brought the girls much closer together.

She'd been so in her own world that the sudden ringing of her phone had made Tori jump out of her skin and let out a startled yelp.
"Calm down sis." Trina laughed. "The phone might do something terrifying like play music if you're not careful."

Tori stuck her tongue out at her sister as she answered the phone.
"Yello?"

"Hello." The voice on the other end said. It was a women's voice, she seemed rattled, like she'd been through a shock. Tori felt like she recognised the voice but she couldn't seem to place where from.
"Is this Tori Vega?"

"Who is this?" Tori asked.

"This is Beck's mother." The woman answered. Well that'll be why Tori recognised her. Then panic set into Tori's soul. Why would Beck's mom be calling her? Only explanation was something bad happened. But what? Was Beck okay? Was he even alive? If Tori wanted any of these answers she'd need to be able to actually respond but her throat had sealed up. Her mind too busy racing over what if scenarios that could've happened to Beck. Her mind flooding her senses with the fact she hadn't made up with him, not gotten the chance to truly apologise. She'd been waiting for the right time but now she may never get the chance.

It was Trina's voice that eventually shook Tori out of her trance.
"Everything alright sis?"

Tori finally focused enough to speak again.
"What's happened?"

"Him and Jade are in the hospital." She answered.

A sickening dread sunk into Tori's stomach. She almost fainted, barely able to comprehend what was being said.
"Where?" The girl finally croaked out.

Beck's mother answered with the hospital the two were at and Tori hung up immediately and began grabbing her stuff.
"Tori where are you going?" Trina asked.

"I need you to take me to the hospital?" Tori urged her sister.

"Why?" Trina asked, already grabbing her stuff, sensing the panic in her sisters voice.

"Beck and Jade are there."

Flashback

Beck rose from the bench and placed himself between the boys and Jade.
