Chapter 43

POV: Lilly

I joined the Sebastian and the other servants in Ciel’s room after I awoke from my light sleep and changed. All of us but Sebastian sat around and waited for Ciel to awake from his sleep. The worry in the atmosphere was heavy.

Suddenly Ciel’s blue eye shot open and his hand went above his face. I ran to his side and took his hand. Finny started to cry and the rest of us showed expressions of relief.

Sebastian reached out to grab Ciel’s hand. Ciel instantly hit his hand away and clung to me. Fear swirled in his eye. “It’s dark. Where am I. I’m scared,” he said as we all looked at him in concern. I wraped my arms around him trying to calm him.

“Young master what’s wrong? It’s not dark at all,” Sebastian began but was cut off when Tanaka grabbed his wrist. The old man shook his head as Ciel complained about how dark it was. “Could he?”

“I’m afraid the young master’s eye is,” Tanaka stopped but we all still got what he was saying. The poor boy was in a panic as he clung to me.

Eventual everyone left to give the boy some space. I stood to leave but he grabbed my dress. “Please don’t leave me. Please,” he whispered, his voice full of fear. My hand rested on my growing bump as I sat on the bed next to Ciel. His hand reached out. “Can I?”

“Yes you may,” I replied helping his hand find my tummy. He seemed to relax and a smile found its way onto his face. A smile formed on my own face showing I wasn’t as worried.

The sun shown brightly through the window when I started to feel the effects of last nights lack of sleep. Ciel was playing with some kind of toy with a smile on his face. I laid back onto the pillow and allowed sleep to take over.

POV: Sebastian

After I had agreed to serve Master Sullivan for a while I went to check on the young master. When I opened the door I found him asleep wrapped in Lilly’s arms. Lilly was also asleep and they both breathed calmly.

I looked at my pocket watch and realized Lilly had not eaten since yesterday. I quickly went over and gently shook her awake. She turned slightly to see who it was and smiled. “Are you hungry?” I asked her in a whisper as not to wake the young master.

She paused for a moment as her stomach made a grumbling noise. “Yeah, just a little,” she replied with another soft smile. “I think Ciel is too. If you bring the food I’ll wake him and make sure he eats.”

“What would you like to eat?” I asked making her pause and think.

“I would like something simple and some tea,” she said with a wink. “I think Ciel would like something sweet,” she looked at the sleeping boy this time.

I nodded and made my way out of the room.

POV: Lilly

When the door closed I untanged myself from the boys grip. He sturred but didn’t wake up. “Ciel sweety, you need to get up,” I whispered as I gently shook him.

His eyes quickly opened and he jumped away from me only to scoot closer when he noticed it was only me. I smiled and ruffled his hair making him smile back even though he couldn’t see my smile.

The door soon opened and Finny came in. He carried a tray with our food. “Hello young master, Lilly.”

“Hello Finny. Thank you for bringing us some food,” I said with a smile. He smiled back and took a step closer. Ciel’s eyes went wide and he quickly ducked under the sheets.

“Young master, won’t you eat just a little,” Finny asked the lump under the blanket.

“I don’t want it. I don’t want to eat,” Ciel wined still under the blanket.

I saw the glass of milk and the light steam coming from it. “Finny brought you some warm milk,” I said taking my own slightly pink cup of milk.

“With honey?” Ciel asked, sticking his head out from under the blanket.

A wide smile formed on the gardener’s face as he picked up the cup. “Let’s put a lot in and make it really sweet.” He dribbled in a good amount of honey before beginning to cool it down. He used too much force and the milk went everywhere. Finny quickly ran to get a towel and gently wiped the milk from Ciel’s face.

Soon after cleaning up Finny tried to get Ciel to go outside with him for some fresh air. Ciel refused because he was scared so Finny promised to protect him. This made Ciel begin to sob about not being worth protecting.

Finny began to sob too and I saw what looked like a serial number on the back of his neck: “S0-12.” Pain filled my mind as I relized where he got his inhuman strength. I frowned as I watched Finny say things about Ciel being the reason he was alive.

Finny was soon interrupted when a knock came from the door. I stood and answered it. Sebastian carried Master Sullivan. “Seb-,” I was about to say but was cut off when Sebastian held up his free hand to his lips. I smiled at the girl and turned back into the room. “Master Sulivan came to see you.”
