Chapter 48

POV: Lilly

The manor I was taken to was magnificent yet I was too worried to take in all of its beauty. My room was large and decorated in red and white.

Hanna ushered me to bed as soon as she had my stuff put away. I reluctantly climbed under the covers and closed my eyes in attempts to get a little sleep for tonight.

When I awoke from my restless sleep, Hanna was already in my room. She handed me a cup of Earl Gray and placed a plate of scones on the bedside table. I ate slowly allowing Hanna time to prepare my dress.

Once finished eating I slipped into a green dress and Hanna helped me put on a pair of black flats. We then went down the main stairs and into the main entrace. Entering through the door was my messy and beat up family.

I smiled until I saw Wolf being laid onto a gurney. I looked to the small girl in Sebastian's arms. Her eyes full of sorrow and her head hung low as she watched Wolf be carried away. I went over and held her hand making her look up at me.

"He will be alright. Wolf is a fighter," I assured her. She gave me a sad smile and nodded. The grip she had on my hand tightened and I saw her hold back tears. I turned and offered her a piggyback ride to give Sebastian some freedom. Sebastian tried to tell me that I shouldn't but I insisted that I was fine.

Eventually Sebastian gave up and the small girl became situated on my back. She was light allowing me to easily ascend the stairs. I took her to my room where I sat her on the bed and sat next to her.

After a second I turned to her and held out my arms. "It's alright to cry."

As soon as I spoke those words she clung to me, sobs racking her small body and tears soaking my dress. I let her cry her heart out into my shoulder. She eventually quieted down and let sleep take her. I smiled and laid her on my bed and covered her with the blanket. "Things will get better. I promise," I whispered as I stood and left the room.

I would like to apologize but this may be my last chapter for a long time and I'm sorry is the shortest one yet. I am following the manga and where I'm at in the story has reached the most recant chapter of the manga I have access to. As soon as I get enough manga content to write another chapter I will post it. I'm extremely sorry.
