POV: Lilly

I sat in Ciel’s study waiting for him. When the door opened and he took a seat he spoke. “Why did you run from the circus?” he asked.

“When the lights came up after my performance I looked around the crowd. Sitting alone was the butler of the Miller household. I needed to get away so he couldn’t take me back.” I answered slowly and looked down at the floor.

“Is that all? You seem distressed,” Sebastian commented.

I slowly nodded before speaking. “That man was cruel. He beat me often. I have a few scars on my side from when he cut me. He always made sure to leave marks only where they would not be seen. He’s another reason I left to find you.” I continued to look at the floor as I spoke. My voice felt weak and my mind filled with the memories of each beating.

Sebastian placed his hand on my back causing me to look up at him. He had an almost untraceable hint of pain in his eyes. My mood lightened and I smiled at him.

“That is all. Why don’t you go down to the kitchen and see if Mey-Rin needs help getting down dishes or something,” Ciel said to help brighten the mood more and I nodded, stood, and left.

When I entered the kitchen Bard was pealing potatoes and Mey-Rin was babbling about laundry. “Do you need any help?” I asked Bard as I picked up a potato.

He shook his head in reply and I placed the potato back. I turned to see if Mey-Rin needed help but I was quickly pushed into the corner as the door blew up. Two men with white hair entered, one had his sword drawn.

“Is Earl Phantomhive in?” the one with the drawn sword asked. Bard and Mey-Rin jumped into action. I stood wide-eyed as they fought. The man had and advantage and took a swing at Bard. I closed my eyes so I couldn’t see what happened next.

I opened my eyes a few seconds later to see Sebastian with some pastries and the man with a pastry on his sword. Sebastian told the man about the pasty and the man tasted it. The other man helped Mey-Rin up and she immediately came over to me and made sure I was ok.

“Are you hurt Miss. Lilly?” She asked as she put her glasses back on.

I nodded in reply and watched as the men left with Sebastian. I decided to follow them to the parlor where they talked with Ciel. There was a chair in the hall where I waited for the men to leave. A few minutes after they arrived they were gone.

“Who where they?” I asked as I walked into the room.

Ciel turned from the window. “They were messengers from the queen. I will be holding a party in a few days for a couple guests. You are free to join us if you wish,” He said with a stern look before passing me and leaving.

(A few days later)

I helped welcome the guests. The first to arrive was a young man who looked very nervous. Next was a very pretty lady and her husband.

“What a lovely dress,” She said when she saw me in my fancy forest green dress. I thanked her and she smiled.

Next came Lau and Ran Mao, who was dressed in a very reveling outfit. After them was a man with lots of rings and a younger man. They all stood around chatting until Ciel showed up.

Ciel greeted them and the door opened once more to reveal an older gentleman and the Queen’s butler, the one who attacked Mey-Rin and Bard. I watched as they all introduced themselves. The Lady is an Opera singer named Irene and her husband is a producer named Grimsby. The man with the rings is Carl Woodley, owner of a diamond company and the young man named Patrick that came with him is the son of the owner of a ship company. The man who showed up late is Georg Von Siemens. Ran Mao seemed very attracted to Mr. Siemens.

The young man who was first to get here was unable to give his name so I walked over to him. “My name is Lilly. It’s a pleasure to meet you Mr?”

“Arthur. Call me Arthur,” He told me and I smiled.

“Alright Arthur. Would you like to sit with me?” I asked and motioned to the chairs. He nodded and I took a seat.

He sat next to me and I soon learned that he was an eye doctor and a writer. When Ciel took a seat next to him I stood and headed to where Sebastian was. I was stopped from walking any farther when Miss. Irene started to shout. I turned to look and Irene slapped Mr. Siemens. He raised a glass of something and splashed it at her. My eyes widened when it hit Ciel who had blocked Irene.

I ran over there as Irene’s husband threw a wine bottle. Sebastian caught it and began to pour it in a wine glass tower. It was beautiful to watch the wine pool down into each glass.

I smiled and walked over to Ciel. “Are you alright?” I asked and he nodded just as Sebastian brought a towel. They began to speak in French. “So once that solemn man gets some alcohol into his system he becomes like this.” Ciel started.

“From the looks of it he’s a repeated offender,” I commented, earning me a quick glance of sock before they resumed.

“Even so, showing how little shelf-constraint one has… I wonder whether his just a fool or whether he knows no shame at all.” Sebastian continued.

“Seems like the incurable type of guy that’d make a doctor hopeless,” I added and soon laughter was heard from our left. Arthur sat in a chair by the window and Ciel turned to him and put his finger to his lips.

We looked over at Mr. Siemens to find him asleep. Sebastian took him to his room and Ciel and I went to bed.

I was awoken very early the next morning by a loud scream. I got up, put on a robe, and ran to the source to find everyone gathered in Mr. Siemens room. I looked in the direction where everyone else looked and my eyes widened. “H-h-he’s dead!” I exclaimed and stumbled backward into Sebastian. He put his hands on my shoulders to keep me from falling. Everyone was in sock and Mr. Patrick passed out.

Lightning flashed and thunder crashed outside. I feared that I would not be able to sleep for the rest of the night.
