POV: Sebastian

A few days have passed since Lilly woke up. She seems to have been weakened by the cold she caught and needs rest often.

The young master received an order form the queen yesterday and we all will be leaving for a small town in about an hour. I packed the carriages with the luggage and everyone got into their carriage. Lilly sat with the young master and the other servants sat in the other carriage.

After about three hours of traveling and the servants singing about going on a holiday we arrived at the town. The dead tree that had dog leeches and collars hanging off the branches and canine skulls underneath it frightened the servants. Lily was asleep so it did not frighten her.

Finny jumped out of the carriage and ran over to help an old lady with a baby carriage. When the blanket was lifted off the baby there was not actually a baby but another dog skull. The woman walked away and started singing some weird song. “The white dog is a good dog, a good dog good. The black dog is a bad dog, a bad dog bad.” She repeated this over and over as she walked away.

When the servants got back into the carriage I continued on into the town. We stopped in front of Barrymore castle where a woman with white hair and wearing a maid uniform greeted us.

“Miss. Lilly, we have arrived so it is time for you to wake up.” I shook her a little before she sat up and rubbed her eyes. I helped her out of the carriage and Mey-Rin helped her walk. The maid showed us to our rooms before taking the young master and I to see Lord Barrymore.

POV: Lilly

Mey-Rin helped me walk to the room I would be staying at. Once in my room I sat in a chair by the window so that she could go help carry all the luggage in. When she brought my luggage I got a book out and read till dinner.

After dinner I played chess with Ciel in his room. It was the third game when a knock came from the door. The door opened and Angela, the maid of this manor, entered the room. “I apologies for calling so late,” She said as she walked into the room and closed the door.

“What is it that you need? My young master and Miss Lilly are about to retire for the evening,” Sebastian told her as he put away some of Ciel’s clothes.

She turned and faced Ciel before speaking. “I have a request to make. Leave the castle, leave the village completely. You mustn’t stay here,” her voice was full of plead as she spoke.

“And why is that?” Ciel asked as he moved one of his pawns.

“I can’t say.” As she said this a howl sounded from outside. She looked over to the window before starting to shake. “No the demon hound. It’s coming.”

Ciel stood, “The what?” Angela cringed and we turned to the window. The shadow of a large dog appeared on the curtain. “Sebastian,” Ciel said causing Sebastian to run over to the window and open the curtains. I stood and walked over to the window with them. “What was that thing?”

“Master look there,” Sebastian said as he pointed over to the glowing figure of a dog that left glowing footprints behind. I took a step back, startled and almost fell. Sebastian steadied me and we all went outside.

In front of the door to enter the building was glowing dog prints. Ciel leaned over and picked up some of the glowing dirt on his finger. He smirked as the servants all came running out in their pajamas.

“What’s going on here? What’s all the fuss about?” Bard asked as he held onto a pillow.

“The demon hound is here,” Angela said sadly.

“Demon hound?” the servants questioned.

“It bring great catastrophe to the village. Any one who dares to defy my master will be punished by the demon hound. That is the law here. There is no way to stop it.” She sounded distressed as she spoke. The servants tensed up and I grabbed onto Sebastian’s arm.

“Angela,” A voice said causing us all to look over at the crowd of people with torches. “Please find Lord Barrymore at once. The demon hound has come again,” The guy in the front said.

“Who was the punished one?” Angela asked, concern on her voice.

The villagers led us into the village to the body of a boy who was bitten to death. Ciel went up to the body and lifted his arm. He mumbled something as Barrymore showed up. “Stand back! Don’t touch!” he ordered. He looked down at the body before speaking, “I see it was James than. He was the bad dog.”

“Yes, he broke the legal restriction on dog ownership. He had six dogs, one more than is allowed,” a villager replied.

“A sixed dog. That this was enviable,” The lord said like he didn’t care.

“That’s all you can say, really?” Bard asked, angry.

“This village is under my rule and no other. The demon hound protects that rule and as the guardian as the Barrymore family he punishes everyone and anyone who dears to challenge me,” Barrymore said as the villagers began to chant a scary chant as some carried the body away. I clung onto Sebastian’s arm as Barrymore spoke, “I was sure you outsiders where its next pray. You were lucky to have escaped.” He walked away with Angela close behind him.

“Well Master?” Sebastian asked as he wrapped his arm me reassuringly. Ciel smirked and we headed back to the manor.

The next day Sebastian suggested that we go to the lake and swim. Because I was not to perfect health I sat with my feet in the water. Mey-Rin was wearing a cute pink and white swimsuit and the boys tried to take her glasses off. Ceil was sitting in a chair reading and Sebastian stood next to him. They seemed to be talking about something but I couldn’t here them.

Sebastian soon left and the servants got out of the water to eat. I sat next to Bard and Mey-Rin eating a sandwich. Suddenly some villagers started yelling about catching a dog and a punishment. We all got up and ran to see what was going on.

When we got there we saw a dog chained to a wall and several others ready to attack. The villagers stood and a semi-circle around it and yelled. They let the dogs attack the dog on the wall after a man beat it with a stick. I stumbled backward and Finny ran into the dogs. He beat them away from the chained dog and some lady fainted. The rest of us ran up to be with Finny.

I kneeled down next to Finny as Ciel, Bard, Tanaka, and Mey-Rin stood around us and faced the angry crowd. Ciel and I were soon chained to the wall and the others were tied to a pole. The dogs were held back and ready to attack.

Angela tried to convince Barrymore not to do it but it didn’t help. Ciel refused to leave and the dogs where soon after us. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain that never came.

Slowly, I opened my eyes again and saw Sebastian fighting off the dogs. The dogs laid down in submission when Sebastian glared at him. He than went on to show Barrymore’s trick and Barrymore was soon surrounded by angry villagers.

When I was released from the chains I fell to the ground finding no strength to stand. Sebastian picked me up and we headed back to the manor after Finny hugged and said goodbye to the dog.

That night, through the rain, you could hear Barrymore’s desperate cries to be freed. The pleads stopped and a scream from Mey-Rin soon followed. When I got down to the cells everyone was already there and a bloody mess was left in Barrymore’s cell. I stumbled backward and fell to the ground as a pain fill my head and the smell of blood filled my nose. I soon felt warm arms and everything went black.
