Jaebeom entered the break room brimming with excitement, the hybrid who'd been waiting curiously looking up as he and Jackson burst through the door.
"Hey, Youngjae." He called, the latter's eyes lighting up upon hearing his name. "Let's go home, huh?"
The hybrid sat frozen for a moment, his brows knitted together. "Home? Like... home home?"
Jaebeom nodded. "I told you I was gonna get you out of here. We're going home."
Youngjae stood up, nearly knocking his chair over in the process. "Really!? So I can stay with you!?"
"Jackson helped me... sort things out. We need a long break after everything, how does that sound?"
Youngjae glanced at Jackson who smiled back, then shifted his gaze back to the archeologist. A smile spread across the hybrid's face before he launched over the table and tackled Jaebeom with a hug. He squeezed the latter tight, so tight that some of Jaebeom's joints cracked as his body was compressed.
"I'm so happy..." Youngjae sighed while burying his face into Jaebeom's shoulder.
"Me too..." Jaebeom agreed. It felt like a heavy weight was finally lifted off him, everything he'd been internally struggling with was finally over. He wasn't exactly sure what to do from this point forward, but what he did know was that he'd finally gotten his hybrid back by his side and that's all that mattered.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he caught Jackson awkwardly shifting while the two were amorous with one another. He gently pushed Youngjae back despite the hybrid's whines, shifting his attention to the former assistant for a moment.
"So... what do you plan on doing?" he asked.
Jackson jolted, scratching the back of his head. "Ah, I don't know... I've been his personal assistant for so long that's all I really know how to do..."
"Don't regret your decision, I think it's all for the better."
"No I'm not regretting it, I just don't know where to go next... I have to decide if I'll head back home or stay here for a little while until I figure things out..." Jackson let out a sigh, his expression darkening.
He probably had a lot on his mind, and abruptly losing his job while in a foreign country wasn't exactly his plan. Jaebeom felt a bit bad for the sacrifice he made, but was proud of the latter for doing what he felt was right.
"Whatever you do, I know you'll be much better off. I can't thank you enough for helping..."
Just as Jaebeom gave his appreciation, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He pulled the device out, skimming the text he'd received.
"Ah, Jinyoung's here. He'll be so happy to hear things worked out." He turned to the hybrid, the smile on his face growing wider. "Ready to go?"
Youngjae nodded rapidly. "Let's go!"
Jaebeom chuckled, turning to head out the door. Jackson waved as the two passed by him into the hallway.
"Good luck with everything..." He mumbled.
Jaebeom paused, glancing back at the latter who had tugged out his phone and began rapidly tapping at the screen. He'd already caused enough trouble for Jackson, the least he could do is offer a helping hand in return.
"Hey, if you want, you can come along?" he offered.
Jackson glanced up, looking around to make sure he was the one being spoken to. "Me? O-Oh no, I can't do that-"
"Of course you can, you need a little while to figure yourself out, right? I can help you find a hotel and get you a flight back home if you want-- or whatever else you might decide, I can help."
