The week went by faster than Jaebum could imagine.

He'd spent hours a day just talking to Youngjae about random things, their conversations usually consisting of Jaebum bringing up a topic and Youngjae asking dozens of questions about it due to his lack of experience. The days sped by and Jaebum nearly slept in the lab more than once just to stay with the hybrid if it hadn't been for Jinyoung literally dragging him out and sending him home.

Writing the report was easy, all he did was put what they talked about on paper. The fact that Youngjae had been pretty antisocial and hostile towards the other scientists yet calm and curious around Jaebum was odd. It could only be compared to a cat finding its perfect companion, hissing at everyone else who tried to come near while its owner can interact with it with little to no problems.

Jaebum felt a bit special because of it, often rubbing it in Jinyoung's face that his own creation liked him better. Jinyoung was more interested in the progress of their research anyway, considering they've gathered more information about Youngjae than ever before, from his impressive intelligence to his plethora of human emotions. His physical traits were the only thing that Jinyoung and his team were able to record until Jaebum came along, now there was so much more to delve into when it came to Youngjae in the psychological aspect that there was no way they could dissect him anytime soon.

Jaebum was sure that after handing the head of the lab his report that he would be allowed a permanent position in the lab. The only part that sucked was the waiting. It needed to be read and looked over by dozens of people before being accepted, which would take at least three weeks if the process was expedited.

Unfortunately at the end of the week he had to say goodbye to Youngjae who didn't take it too well; thr hybrid clung onto him and refused to let him leave until he was distracted by food and Jaebum was able to escape. He had to return to his office and play the waiting game which sucked, but he could only anticipate receiving the phone call that would allow him to come back to the lab and give him the opportunity to be with Youngjae as much as he pleased.

Being back at his desk job reminded him of just how boring it was, sitting there all day just typing at his computer. He wished he had an assistant to do all that so he could get back to the more interesting parts of his job quicker, but unfortunately the company was pretty stingy when it came to hiring extra help.

He wasn't even focused on what he was supposed to be doing; he'd been daydreaming about Youngjae again instead of writing up his report on the claw Jinyoung gave him. Spending time with the hybrid felt like unwrapping a gift with multiple layers; there was always something new to uncover. Jaebum's mind often drifted on the job, but not ask much as is had been since he's met Youngjae; now every five minutes or so he'd imagine visiting the hybrid again and learning something new about him.

He was snapped out of one of those trances by the sound of a nearby phone ringing, it being the one set on his desk that he rarely ever received calls on. His bored mood quickly lifted; Jinyoung said that he'd call him with good news if there was any.

With the hope that it was Jinyoung asking him to permanently join the lab team, Jaebum quickly picked up the phone, his heart rate increasing as he prepared himself for the news.

"Hello?"

"Jaebum?" The voice was too high pitched to be Jinyoung's. Jaebum's high hopes crashed to the floor.

"Yes? Who is this?" He replied in a dull tone.

"You should be able to recognize your boss's voice."

Jaebum frowned, his head slowly turning towards Yugyeom's office where through the slightly turned blinds, he could see his boss staring back at him. What was he calling for?
