Jaebeom gently closed the bedroom door behind him where Youngjae was passed out napping. He didn't often nap, but Jaebeom noticed that he was still growing which definitely affected his energy level, and being in that cage all day the day before took a lot out of him.
He allowed the hybrid privacy to rest, deciding to perch himself in the living room for a little while in the meantime.
Or at least he had planned to; but just as his butt was about to meet the cushions, his doorbell rang. He let out a sigh, forcing himself back to a standing position so he could shuffle across the apartment.
The doorbell rang over and over again, the impatient buzzing already driving Jaebeom up a wall.
"I'm coming, jeez!"
Jaebeom finally reached the door, forgetting to even look through the peephole and just opening it. And as soon as it was opened, he nearly slammed the door closed again.
Instead, he stood there and watched as Jinyoung stepped in, the younger rudely invading his humble abode. "Hey, where's Youngjae?"
Jaebeom let out a long sigh, rolling his eyes as he shut the door behind the scientist. "Wow, hey Jinyoung, thanks for popping up completely uninvited. I totally wanted you here, I'm doing well by the way, thanks for asking."
"I don't need to ask, I saw you yesterday." Jinyoung mumbled as he scanned the small apartment with his judgmental eyes. "You just ran off with my hybrid, where is he?"
"In the bedroom, probably relaxing after his tough day yesterday."
"Tough day?" Jinyoung shook his head at the over-dramatization. "He sat in his cage all day and glared at people, how tough was that?"
"The cage itself is tiring. Why are you here?"
"Just wanna check up on him." The younger replied, his eyes eventually settling on Jaebeom. "And you."
Jaebeom's brows furrowed. "Why me? I'm fine."
"Yeah, but I'm worried about your irrational decisions and the risk of getting caught. You're not taking it seriously." Jinyoung sat himself on a stool by the kitchen island, making himself comfortable despite being unwanted there.
Frankly, Jaebeom felt like he was here for nothing. He didn't feel like his decisions were irrational; they were in Youngjae's best interest, and that was all he cared about. "All you think about is your job and covering your ass, what about Youngjae and his well-being?"
"Jaebum, if I only cared about my job, then I wouldn't have even let Youngjae stay with you." Jinyoung retorted.
Jaebeom scoffed, folding his arms over his chest. "You didn't allow it willingly..."
"And I'm still on edge about it, but even more so since you're treating this so carelessly."
"No, I'm doing it with the utmost care since I care about Youngjae way more than anyone else does, it's obvious. He's your own creation and you don't even care about him in the slightest."
"I care enough about him to keep him from getting taken away from you." Jinyoung let out a sigh, his face softening just a bit. "And... I care about you too, Jaebum. If you act recklessly, we don't know what would happen; I can't have you doing stuff without even thinking of the possible repercussions. I'm worried."
"Well, you don't have to worry. Me and Youngjae are fine, and I'm taking care of him. We haven't been found out yet." The elder replied with a small shrug.
"The new security cams will be installed soon. What will we do when they're up and active?"
"Just... figure it out..."
