KALEB stood outside the hospital room with Mark talking about what the plan was for Kayleigh's discharge. They were going to decide on a nickname for her that would be safe to use till we could figure out who was behind everything. The group was also going to be taking her to some shops to buy some clothes and other necessities before moving into the building he was staying in currently. He was sure the girls would be going overboard but considering she was going to be starting from scratch they might as well spoil her a little bit. An amused smirk crossed Marks face.
"You worried they will spend you dry?" He asked laughing.
"Not really," I answered, "I know it will be a lot anyway just getting the basics. I can only imagine what other items your mate will think is important."
He laughed again.
"Yeah.... She probably will try it," He chuckled some more, "I'll cover those charges as a thanks for dealing with me all these years."
"Oh, really now?" I said raising an eyebrow, "You sure about that?"
"I'll probably regret it later but oh well," he shrugged, "We're just glad to see you find a mate that is throwing you for a loop."
I rolled my eyes. He was having fun watching my torture. The door to the room clicked open. Paige humming, bounced out to Mark and placed a kiss on his cheek. She quickly spun around to stand next to him and wrapped her arms around his grinning. Always so affectionate with each other. It was almost to the point of wanting to gag at times. I sighed. She turned her smiling face to me with excitement. I noticed more movement at the doorway and looked back to see Kayleigh standing there nervous. Though I wasn't ready for the difference an outfit made.
Her complexion was the best it had been for most likely years and hair washed. It wasn't done up like most of the females' hairstyles today but its natural style made her look cute. The natural curls at the end would slightly bounce around when she moved. I realized for the first time her hair actually was reaching the bottom of her shoulders. I didn't care for how much some liked to paint on the makeup, especially so thickly, so thankfully she didn't have any put on. Paige got her a simple dress but it did wonders for her look. It was simple dark grey dress that went to the knees with shorter sleeves. She gave her some basic flat heel shoes for now.
A small giggle made its way to my ears before I heard someone clearing their throat. I blinked turning to Mark who was hiding a smirk behind his closed hand hovering in front of his face. I stared at him for a second before realizing I was staring at Kayleigh. I got a little flustered at the embarrassment. It's been a month and I was already head over heels for this female. I made another peek at her to realize she was bright red in the face. I must have embarrassed her with staring for so long. I cleared my throat looking to my side.
"Shall we head to the stores and start working on getting what you need?" I asked trying to make it less awkward.
"Yes!" Paige spoke enthusiastically, "Come on Kay!"
She closed the space between them and quickly began to drag her away to the exit. Her voice echoed through the halls in excitement. Mark chuckled before following behind them. I sighed.
Many hours passed after going through all the stores. Paige made sure she got one of almost every type of clothing there was. I was impressed when Kayleigh actually refused some of the clothes she was trying to buy her. We still managed to get about a closet full of clothing for her ranging from questionably short dresses to pants and jackets. As we headed out of the mall, I noticed Kayleigh was staring at her reflections in the store windows. The emotions going through her eyes varied and quickly disappeared when she realized I was watching her. She gasped turning her head back forward and began fidgeting with her hands. I know Paige got her some basic makeup items but I had a feeling there was one more thing she wanted to do. I noticed her eyes lingered on the hair salon the longest as we walked past all the stores. I stopped walking and reached over to touch her wrist. Startled she stopped and looked up at me puzzled, tilting her head to the side wondering what I was doing. I gave a small smile.
"Is there still something you would like to do before we leave." I asked.
Her eyes widened, realizing I noticed there was something else. Her mouth opened and closed a few times before she shyly looked downwards. She made a small nod. I realized her cheeks were starting to become pink in embarrassment.
"Where else did you want to stop?"
I saw Mark and Paige were now stopped and looking back waiting patiently for us while also enjoying our interaction. She looked up and between us to the store I knew she wanted to go to, the hair salon.
"Do you want to get your hair cut as well?" I asked trying to get a verbal answer from her.
"Yeah...." She almost whispered, "I want to change it...."
"Alright, lets go back and you can get something done."
I wrapped my hand around hers before leading her back the way we came to stop in front of the salon. Mark and Paige appeared next to us and separated. Paige quickly pulled Kayleigh inside leaving us standing outside to wait. We walked over to the benches that were placed in the middle of the walking areas and took our spots as we waited again.
"So, did you want her to stop there?"
"When we walked by earlier, she stared at the store with this look on her face. Then after that she kept looking at her reflection." I answered, "I think she just was either too scared to ask or too tired."
"Yeah?" He said leaning back and stared at the ceiling. "I think the next stop should be food."
"Agreed."
After what seemed to take forever the girls finally came out of the salon. Paige got curls done in her hair that bounced around her face as she moved to Mark with the biggest smile. I looked to Kayleigh was startled. She had her long blond hair cut up to her jawline, it had to be a little longer because it was slightly curly. Whiffs of hair went in a few different directions and bounced around in place as she walked up to me. I enjoyed the short hair version of her a lot more that her with long hair. She looked so adorable now. I felt my wolf side stir in my subconscious with curiosity. It was unusual for him to stir, but a lot of things were now that she was here.
Kaleb you're staring again.... And embarrassing her with that 'I want to eat you' look that's on your face. Mark mind linked.
I snapped my head to Mark. He was looking exasperated while she was grinning ear to ear with amusement. I cleared my throat, pulling myself together.
Let her know how she looks and let's go.
His hunger was making him cranky. I felt my wolf suddenly take control and look at her.
"You look pretty." He spoke using me.
Her head snapped up to meet my wolf's eyes. She was startled but quickly grew fascinated. I watched as her face turned a little pink as well. I felt his content at her reaction before disappearing again in my subconscious.
"Your wolf?" She whispered.
"Yeah," I answered, "It's unusual for him to pop out like that. He must like you a lot."
She giggled and I swear both sides of me felt happy enough to die at that moment.
