Kaleb rushed through town back to the hospital. Alpha Mark made a panicked mind link to him that Kayleigh was awake. Happiness filled him briefly until it registered to him something was very wrong. Alpha Mark sounded panicked as he relayed more information. Her senses were scrambled. She was attacking everyone in the hospital and nobody there was able to get through to her. Being a newly created immortal, she was going to be at her strongest for the next few years before her body stabilized from the changes. That means right now the only ones able to hold her down will be another immortal. He was the only one with the knowledge that she had changed. He needed to hurry to them. The only thing he hoped for was that she did not severely hurt anyone.
I made my way through the hospital doors, almost breaking them. I looked around the entrance to see several heads snapping in my direction. Several nurses knew what I was there for and quickly pointed in the same direction of her room. I nodded as I rushed past them. They whispered good luck in worried voices. This made me wonder how her state of mind was when she woke. Each of us were different when we woke up from the change. Some became violent while others ran and hid, till they gathered their senses. I needed to hurry to find her.
I finally rounded the corner to the hallway where the door to her room sat. I could hear the voices inside, nervous and soft. The low threatening growl grew louder the closer I got. It was her. It sounded like she was in defense mode. I made it to the doorway to the scene that unfolded.
Kayleigh was standing, well sort of slouched over as her head shook a few times. She was trying to clear her head of the fog. She was tense but that was because she could not focus on her surroundings. She could be dangerous if spooked. I noticed her body was starting to shift. She did not shift completely but she was going to need to for this to end. I needed to get her somewhere safer for that.
"Kayleigh!"
I made sure to speak loud and clear through some rugged breathing. She could either calm down or attack me. Either result was more desirable. Her head snapped in my direction so fast it almost seemed like she was going to snap off. I could see her thoughts swirl as she tried to figure out my voice. Her mouth opened slightly as she started focusing on my scent. Everyone in the room remained frozen with worry. They looked at each other trying to figure out if it was safe to move.
Keep where you are and when I say to move be quiet and careful when you go past us. She's only confused. Her senses are scrambled.
Alpha Mark nodded and quickly relayed the message to the others in the room. They nodded and waited. I looked to Kayleigh. She was still trying to fight the fog. I took slow steps forward. She stiffened but relaxed slightly before taking a few steps forward. Her hand moved up, cautious and slow. She hesitated briefly. I kept still, waiting for her next move. After a few minutes of blankly staring at me she moved her hand fully against my ribs. I was not ready for the feeling that flowed through my body. My breath caught in my throat for a moment. Our bond was at full strength now that we have marked each other. It was a little overwhelming.
"Kaleb...." She mumbled as she pressed herself into my side.
I carefully placed my hand against the back of her head. Once I knew she was going to stay in place I quickly motioned for everyone to exit the room. One by one they each slowly moved around past us and through the door. Alpha Mark paused at the door looking in our direction with a look of questions across his face. He motioned a thumbs up with a tilt of his head. I nodded back.
I will be fine do not worry.
He nodded then exited. Slowly and carefully closing the door behind him. I could feel her body relax against me. I felt her ribs and shoulders expand as she took in a deep breath then exhale. She rubbed her face against my ribs, pausing then moved again. After standing together for a few minutes she bunched up my shirt in her hands. I was startled when she finally looked up at me. Instead of her bright blue eyes I found a brilliant violet color staring back at me.
"Kayleigh?"
"Technically...." She spoke a little playful but also shyly.
"Is this your wolf side?" I asked.
A hint of curiosity flashed though her eyes. Her body leaned into mine, relaxing and taking in my scent. A small smile on her face.
"I'm Bianca. She became a bit exhausted and switched. Didn't want to worry you." She explained.
I nodded. I felt my wolf stir again. The excitement was rolling off of him.
Care if we switched?
I sighed.
Remember where we are currently. Behave.
I will. I want to talk with her wolf side.
I closed my eyes and let us switch. I sat in the back of the mind and listened to the conversation unfold. He was not acting like an animal in heat but explaining everything to her. What was going to be different like being more human wolf hybrid body instead of a full wolf form. What to expect when she would shift for the first time after the change. She had her questions as well, asking one after another. I almost thought we were going to be sitting there for the rest of our lives with the questions and answers. But the questions finally ended. We laid on the medical bed pulled into each other in a comforting way. We laid like this for a few hours before stirring beside me. She looked up with the brilliant violet eyes.
Goddess I could get use to staring in both the blue and the violet eyes.
"I'm switching back," She spoke up, "Talk with you again smarty pants." She giggled before closing her eyes and opening them to the blue.
She jumped a little startled to see my wolf's eyes. An apologetic smile crossed her face.
"You are fine. Bianca was out so I thought I would take the chance to come out as well and have a chat. You can have him back now."
I felt the smirk before closing eyes and switched spots with me. My eyes opened to her half-amused look. I raised an eyebrow and she giggled. I could feel the smile spread across my face. I leaned down and gave her a kiss on the top of her head. She made it through the transformation but now was the next challenge. Working on her abilities and control. Then to find and stop them.
