"Martina, wait. I said wait!"

I stopped and allowed him to quickly pull me in a corner where no one can see us...

"Remember what we talked about...what we both promised. You don't need to listen to anyone...you only listen to me. I love you and I'll see you later. I'll keep an eye on you...stay close, baby girl."

I didn't have time to respond because he quickly retreated. I completely understand that he's trying to protect me so I didn't protest.

I was left alone in this huge belvedere while he watched the grandiose fireworks with his friends at the grand balcony where all the royals are gathered... I can see him and he's happily cheering the Russian prince. While I stood here, with a few guests I don't know. He would cast me a glance... and smile. I know being here wasn't any of our royals friends' nor his intention as they were even surprised to see me separated from them... my feet just naturally led me here, I don't know but maybe, I was really meant to be here than to be with them. They even asked someone to fetch me but I politely declined. It would be safer for us to be in such a distance while being under everyone  and the French's scrutiny.

Well... I enjoyed the fireworks. Many times I caught oppa looking at me...but I relished the moment and looked at the sky until there was no more...

And the royals are back inside..

I was startled to find someone standing beside me...

Someone unexpected.

With that beautiful smile on her face.

"Hello."

She greeted with that same genuine smile she wore earlier.

She seemed really honest.

"You know...this is the first time I watched such a...breath-taking fireworks display. Well, literally, this is my first time here... I mean if it weren't for Louise, I don't think I'd even get a chance. You see, even though we're nobles, we don't have a link to the Russian royals...but..."

She heaved a deep sigh with such a happy and excited smile on her face as though expecting me to join her merriment.
