A New Life on a New Earth

Chapter 19

It had been a few weeks since the World Killers had been taken care of and now the team was trying to get Sam integrated into everything that they were doing, which seemed to be going pretty good as well. They knew that sooner or later something would happen that would make the team have to be ready and stop the bad guys again. It seemed today would be the day that they would need to fight again.

"So, what do we have?" Kara asked as they all walked into the bunker.

"It looks like the President is coming into town and there is a creditable threat against her life." J'onn said.

"So, what are we going to do about this?" Oliver asked.

"Kara has a good relationship with the President, and she wants Kara and her team to guard her." J'onn said.

"That makes since, but I have a better idea. I have heard theories out there that the public is starting to turn against aliens because they are different from them. We need to make sure that they don't find out the President is an alien. I have an idea to stop that from happening." Kara said as she then told the team what her idea was.

"You know, I think that could really work. Let's get that all set up. We have to be there to guard her tomorrow morning." J'onn said.

"We will be ready." Oliver said.

The next morning the team that consisted of Kara, Oliver, Thea, Roy, James, Sam, Sara, Alex, and J'onn showed up to fulfill their duty of protecting the President. When the President arrived at the cabin that she was staying in, Sam and Kara went out to give her cover, being that they were both bullet proof.

"Thank you for doing this Supergirl. I am sure you were busy with other things." The President said.

"Actually, we were not busy at all. We just got finished with a big threat. That usually means that we have a month or two where we have a little bit of, I break." Kara said.

"Well, I am still happy that you are here. It looks like you have added some new members since I saw you last." The President said.

"Yes, we have the Green Arrow, Artemis, Arsenal, White Canary, and our newest member is Power Woman." Kara said.

"Well, it is nice to meet you all. I am glad that you all are here to watch over me." The President said.

"It is our pleasure." Oliver said.

The whole day had gone by without any problems, but the team knew that it was probable that the enemy would come at them during the night. It turned out that they were right. People started to shoot into the house and try to kill the President. Kara and Sam lead the President out to the car so that the secret service could get her out of there. The enemies had something that allowed them to see if anyone was an alien and since they knew that the President was an alien, they used it on her, but to their surprise it didn't show that the President was an alien, but someone else altogether. At this point the team stopped keeping an eye on the imposter President and started rounding up all the people that were there to kill the President and overturn her law that allowed aliens to live free in the US.

Once all the enemies were rounded up and taken off to prison, Kara turned to the imposter and said, "Thanks for doing this mom. It really helped that the President was never in any real danger." Kara said.

"It was my pleasure. I know how much she means to you, and I can see all the good she has done for this country, so I am glad that I could help." Alura said.

"Let's head to the bunker and see if there is anything else that needs our attention tonight." Kara said as she and Sam flew back, and the others used there transmat watches that Lena had made for them to get back to the bunker.

Once they were all at the bunker. They saw the President was waiting for them. "Thank you for your help Supergirl. I don't think things would have gone as smoothly without you and your team. The President said.

"It was the least we could do. So, I will take you back to your secret service agents now if that is ok with you." Kara said.

"Yeah, I think that is best." The President said and Kara picked her up and flew her to the meeting point with the secret service.

When Kara got back, she saw that no one was still in their suits which meant that she could remove hers as well. "I guess that means that we are done here for the day." Kara said.

"Looks that way. Things are quite for right now, although I do think that this new group known as the Children of Liberty are worth looking into." Winn said.

"What do you know about them?" Oliver asked.

"They are anti alien and will do whatever it takes to get the Presidents new law overturned. We think that it was them that came after y'all today." Winn said.

"Well, find out everything that you can about this group and then we will go after them when we have enough creditable information about them. If we act to quick, they could all get released." Oliver said.

"Sounds good. We will investigate them tomorrow. I think we could all use some rest tonight." Lena said.

"I agree. Everyone go and do what you want to do for now. We will meet back here tomorrow afternoon unless something comes up between now and then." Kara said.

All the heroes left the bunker and went to their homes for the night, and it was their luck that nothing happened for the rest of the night that needed their attention. They did need their rest after all, because they had been with the President and her team of guards for the whole day, but at least that worked out well and nothing bad had happened to the President or her new law.
