A New Life on a New Earth

Chapter 45

Kara had been putting the finishing touches on the wedding for the past few days. She decided to go with blue and white flowers since she still thought that going with blue and red might be too much on the nose and with all of the reporters that were going to be at the wedding, it wouldn't be a leap for them to figure out who she really was. Oliver had helped out where he could but he let Kara take the lead since this was really her day and he wanted her to have everything that she wanted.

Oliver had chosen his groomsmen and he had decided that Barry was going to be his best man since Dig was still a little pissed that he had just up and left their earth although he did understand Oliver not wanting to go to jail. He just felt bad about the way that Oliver had left Felicity, even though the two weren't married in the first place. The rest of his groomsmen were Roy and James.

Kara's Bridesmaids were Alex as maid of honor and the others were Thea and Lena. They had hired the best DJ in the city and all of the catering was picked out as well. Now that everything was settled for the wedding, they had a few weeks to get ready since they had waited until the last second because of complications that had to do with their other life as heroes.

Oliver had also made sure that everyone was available to help, even though they were from different earths if anything happened while Oliver and Kara were gone on their honeymoon. Kara didn't like the idea of not helping out with things and letting the other do everything, but Oliver had talked to her and she understood that they needed their time to celebrate getting married and she finally agreed. Now, everything was ready for the wedding and they just needed to wait for the day to arrive and they would finally be a married couple.

Kara was putting the finishing touches on her big story that she was working on for Cat Grant being that she was back from her trip around the world. Cat also decided that since Kara was one of her best reporters and she was in need of a new editor for the magazine, that when Kara got back from her honeymoon, she would be promoted to editor. That came with a nice pay raise and a lot more power than Kara was usually comfortable with.

Alex had found out about the promotion and was now at Kara's apartment trying to get her to look at this as a good thing. "Kara, it is a good thing that you are getting this promotion. I don't know why you can't see that." Alex said.

"Alex, how am I supposed to do my other job with all of these new duties that I will have?" Kara asked.

"I am sure that Cat will understand. Maybe it is time to bring her into the fold." Alex said.

"I don't know Alex. What if something happens to her because she knows? She is not like the rest of you who can defend yourselves." Kara said.

"Kara, you just need trust that she can take care of herself and at the same time if she knows who you are, she can cover for you if someone ever questions you." Alex said.

"I guess you have a point there. It would be nice to have her in the know. That way I don't have to keep lying to her about everything." Kara said.

"I have a feeling that she probably already knows something is going on with you, she is just hoping that you will tell her first." Alex said.

"It wouldn't surprise me being that she is one of the best journalists in the world. I will talk to her tomorrow. I still don't know how I can pull everything off though." Kara said.

"I know a way, but it is not something that you can do now. It would actually call for something from both you and Oliver." Alex said.

"And what would that be?" Kara asked.

"Out yourselves. It is the only way that you can be your most authentic self. And if you come out, everyone will figure out who Oliver is, so if you were to ever do this, it would be best for you both to do it together." Alex said.

"That is a ridiculous idea Alex. It will put everyone that we know in danger. How could you even think that this would be a good idea?" Kara said.

"Kara, you know that we can all take care of ourselves and the fact that you and Oliver are heroes will make people think about it and they will realize who most of us are as well. People wouldn't dare come after us unless they were looking for a fight that they could never win." Alex said.

"I guess you do have a point there. I will mention it to Oliver and see what he thinks. We won't do anything until after the wedding though." Kara said.

"I can understand that. You don't want anything to get in the way of your wedding. I am not trying to push this on you. I just think you will be much happier that you won't have to lie to everyone anymore, and it will also allow you a lot more freedom than you have now." Alex said.

"How so?" Kara asked.

"Do you think that someone will really lie to you when you interview them? They won't want to make Supergirl mad. They know what that would mean for them if they do." Alex said.

"You do have a point there. You have given me some good reasons to think about this. I guess we will see what Oliver thinks tonight." Kara said.

"Like I said before, I am not trying to force anything on you, but I have watched you since you got here when you were thirteen, and I know how much it used to hurt you to lie to your friends about who you really are. I think you will like the fact that you will never have to do that again." Alex said.

"It did and still does bother me that I have to do that. I do hate lying to my friends who are not in the know. You have given me a lot to think about Alex. Thanks for this. I will make sure to bring this up to Oliver when he gets home and then we will let the team know what our decision is and also make sure that it is ok with them before we announce anything. We won't do this if someone is against it. We don't want to out someone who doesn't want to be." Kara said.

"Don't worry about that Kara. The team has already agreed. I thought we would have a hard time with the heroes from earth one, but even they agreed with it. They know that they are truly looked at as heroes here, whereas on their original earth they were looked at as vigilantes, which of course is illegal and they would have been arrested for that. That won't happen here because we are all looked at as heroes." Alex said.

"I guess you have a point there. Thanks for the talk Alex. I will let you know what we decide in the end." Kara said and Alex hugged her sister and then left to go home for the night.
