A New Life on a New Earth

Chapter 61

Five Years Later

Things had been going well for the team. Not long after the Crisis, Kara and Oliver took a trip to Argo City and a month later they found out that Kara was pregnant with Karen and Conner. They didn't know it was going to happen that soon, but they were happy that they were going to have their kids. Thea and Roy got married a year later and they now have their first kid on the way as well. Sara and Alex are now engaged and are planning on getting married next year.

The three couples were having dinner at Kara and Oliver's new home that they bought after they had the kids. It had a big yard that allowed the kids to play and it also had privacy so that no one could see Kara or the kids using their powers. All six of them were out on the back deck right now watching the kids play in the yard and having fun.

"Who thought we would be here three years ago?" Thea asked.

"You mean watching your niece and nephew playing in the back yard or the fact that you have a kid on the way yourself?" Oliver asked.

"Both truthfully. I never really saw myself as a parent, but now I am really looking forward to it." Thea said.

"So, how is the wedding planning going?" Kara asked Alex.

"It is going well. There is still a lot to be done, but I am looking forward to it." Alex said.

"And I will be there to help as well. Just tell me what you need and I will do it." Sara said and Alex smiled at her and then leaned over and kissed her.

"EWW! Aunt Alex and Aunt Sara!" Karen yelled from in the yard from where she saw them kissing.

"You little squirt. I am going to get you for that." Alex said as she went into the yard and started to chase the kids.

"So Roy, are you looking forward to being a father?" Sara asked.

"I am. I don't know if I will be any good at it though. I didn't really have either of my parents around when I was younger. I just hope I do a better job than they did." Roy said.

"I am sure you will. I don't think Thea would have let you get her pregnant if she didn't think you were going to be a good father and be able to help her out as well." Sara said.

"Yeah, I guess you are right." Roy said.

"What about you Sara? Do you see kids in your future?" Oliver asked.

"Speaking of that." Sara said as she looked down at Alex who was coming back to join them. "We have been talking to adoption agencies and they have found a little girl for us to adopt. We were going to tell y'all tonight."

"Congratulations you guys. I am so happy for you." Kara said as she hugged her sister first and then her soon to be sister-in-law.

The rest of the others said their congratulations and gave hugs as well. Then they all sat back down and relaxed while watching the kids who continued to play. Every once in a while they would even use super speed that allowed only Kara to be able to see them. She just laughed because all of the others had gotten so used to this they didn't even fuss about it anymore.

"Slow down you two. We don't need anyone to see." Kara called out to them and the kids slowed down with a pout on their faces.

"Sorry mom." Conner yelled as they went back to playing.

"You are going to have a lot of trouble with them when they get older." Roy said.

"Tell me about it. The only one who can do anything to them is Kara. All I can do is yell at them." Oliver said and the others laughed.

"Yeah, I even have trouble catching them at times. They are already as fast as I am. I just hope they don't get faster." Kara said.

"What are you going to do if they want to play sports and stuff like that when they grow up?" Thea asked.

"That is why we try to teach them not to use their powers that often. It will help when they get older. I know it will be hard on them, but if they learn now how to do things without their powers, when they get old enough to play sports, they will know what to do." Oliver said.

"I am glad that I won't have to deal with that." Thea said.

"I think she had enough of that when we used to babysit them when they were younger." Roy said and the rest of them laughed at Thea.

"I know they didn't know any better then, so I can't hold it against them. They were cute though, so that kind of helped me get over it." Thea said and they all laughed again.

"So, when do you get your new baby?" Kara asked Alex.

"Not for another month, which gives us plenty of time to set up a room and buy all of the stuff that we need. Maybe we can even have some of the stuff that Thea hasn't borrowed from you yet." Alex said.

"That won't be a problem. Just let me know what you need and if I have it, you can borrow it." Kara said.

"I will let you know. So, I am glad that we were able to get together and do this tonight. It was a great dinner guys." Alex said.

"It was just burgers and hotdogs. It wasn't much." Kara said.

"It is always just fun to get together and just have family time. It gives us a break from all of the hero stuff." Sara said.

"Yeah. I am glad that we haven't had to deal with anything big since the Crisis. I know we might have to in the future, but for now, I am glad that everything has settled down a bit." Oliver said and all of the others nodded as they continued to watch the kids play in the yard.

So, as you can see everything has turned out well for the heroes since the Crisis and everyone is living their lives to the fullest. They know that they might not have this peace for the rest of their lives so they are going to enjoy it while they can.
