Chapter: 24

The next month and a half goes by fairly quickly. Classes are going well and despite the fact Katie has been on the war path since the day in gym class school has been rather enjoyable. Patrick and I have grown closer, if that was even possible. Molly and Jimmy are doing okay too. I'm so happy to have Jen back in my life cause she is just amazing. She has adjusted to life back in California well. On weekdays we will all do homework together and then on weekends we would go to the beach, go surfing and just hang out. I even attempted to teach Anthony and Jen to surf and they were picking it fairly well. Jen was a natural and has already bought her own board.

Anthony has been busy because his parents bought a new house not far from Patricks and he's going to have a new sibling. His pool house has become our new hang out spot. His parents are total hippies, the total opposite of him and when the moved they wanted a spot for Anthony and his friends to hang out. They always let us come and go as we please and Mrs. Hill makes the best food. She's 34 years old has sandy blonde hair that is parted down the middle and is usually wearing a long peasant skirt and tank top with her small baby bump sticking out. Mr. Hill is the same age and has shaggy blonde hair and likes to wear jeans and white flow tops and sandals. They are kinda young compared to my parents because they had Anthony when they were 16. I guess times were hard when Mr. Hill was in collage and Mrs. Hill had to take care of the baby. He eventually became an architect and things settled down a little. They moved into their new house when Mrs. Hill found out she was pregnant a few months ago and they needed more space. Anthony was excited to have a sibling because being an only child can be rough sometimes which I know all too well.

The pool house is about 100 feet from the main house and is next to a large blue tiled pool. There are two carved wooden doors in the front that are always open with three floor to ceiling windows on the two side walls that open to let in the natural air with white sheer curtains. On the back wall there is tv set on a carved tv stand. There is a paisley printed couch with surf blankets thrown on the back of it, on one side of the room and two taupe chairs on the other side with a wooden coffee table in the middle. Covering the floor is a red and brown aztec rug that is worn from foot traffic. There are some trees scattered around the yard and a stone path leading to a good sized garden where Mrs. Hill grows everything from herbs to veggies to flowers. Its honestly super beautiful and I love way she uses her own veggie and herbs to cook with.

My parents have been super busy with work. My mom left her old job at the DMV and now works for an art gallery in Beverly Hills selling art and finding pieces to sell. She's currently in New York meeting with someone that has a Warhol they might sell to the gallery.

My dad is also keeping busy because he is set to testify in November at the Manson trail. He was called to the Tate and LaBianca homes as a consultant when they first happened last summer. He's nervous but he wants to be prepared for anything they throw at him. He has been at the office a lot with Uncle Willy who has been looking for his informal Happy since August. He has also taken over the regular cases like Mrs. Flemings and Mrs. Denning's because my dad is so busy getting ready for the trail. The stress of that and my mom starting a new job and being gone a lot has taken a toll on them. They have been fighting a lot and will go days without seeing each other.

I have been staying with Patrick a lot of the nights because I hate it so much. His dad officially starting dating a women who lives in San Diego and things are moving quickly so often times he stays with her. One night, the four of us went to dinner and his dad got to meet me and Patrick and I got to meet his new girlfriend. Patrick seems okay with it and they seem to be repairing their relationship slowly. Julia seems nice. She's in her early 30's and works as lawyer. She has a medium length blonde hair and seems to have an upscale professional style. When we went to dinner, she was wearing a pretty light blue wrap dress that I recognize as designer. Patrick thinks his dad will propose to her soon, which is very sweet.
