Chapter 3:
As the three guys approach us, two of them are carrying surf boards and all three have towels slung over their shoulders. Jimmy Williams, Anthony Hill and Patrick O'Neill, are all class mates of ours. Jimmy, who looks like the long lost Wilson brother with his short blonde hair and blue eyes. Patrick, who has shaggy dark brown curly hair and gorgeous brown eyes and Anthony, who is the definition of a preppy guy with his short brownish hair and dark rimmed glasses, usually sits on the beach and reads and tans because he doesn't surf like the other two guys do. They don't look like they would be friends but they have been friends almost as long as me and Molly. We usually all hang out together. I'm not sure when we all became friends but they are three people, besides Molly, I hang out with the most. Molly has had a thing for Jimmy for at least a few years but she will never make the first move because her mom told her it makes her look easy.
Patrick and I have been really good friends since middle school before we all started hanging out as a group. We have tons of things in common and have always hung out with the same people. I have liked him since I was in middle school but he was way too cool for me to tell him how I feel. I also don't want to wreck what friendship we do have. Over the last year or so we have become way more flirty with each other. There was small touches and lingering looks between us. There was one night that we almost kissed but Jimmy interrupted but I'm sure it was just the weed. We tend to get more flirty when we are high but I'm not complaining.
'Hey boys' Molly says with a smile and a hair flip 'Wanna join us?'
'Hey Molly, Jo' Jimmy says smiling 'Sure, sounds groovy.'
The two of them shove the boards into the sand next to mine and they spread out their towels. Patrick sits down next to me, Jimmy next to Molly and Anthony in the middle forming a circle.
'Jo, how's it going?' Patrick asks me as soon as he sits down 'Any good waves?'
'Yeah, A few, how long have you been out today?' I ask him with a grin and reaching for another cigarette.
Before I get a chance to grab my lighter, Patrick lights it for me, lightly grabbing my hand to block the wind.
'Thanks' I say offering him one.
Patrick takes it and lights it. 'Since noon or so cause we stopped for a slice before coming' he says smiling at me.
'Cool' I nod and smile a little and I can't help but stare at his bare toned chest and I get butterflies.
We all talk for a while when Jimmy pulls out a joint. 'Shall we?' He asks.
Molly sits up all excited and giggle and claps her hands. I nod and roll my eyes at her. Can she makes things more obvious? As long as I have known her she has been boy crazy. A new crush every week. She would date boys in middle school for two weeks and then would move on to the next boy trying to make Jimmy jealous. She wasn't a slut but she has kissed a few frogs, for sure. Patrick hands over his lighter as Jimmy lights it. As he inhales he leans close to Molly's lips almost kissing and exhales into her mouth. She inhales and smiles. Jimmy hands the joint to Anthony who instantly passes it to Patrick.
'Tony really?' Jimmy asks as he punches his arm 'Don't be a square' and Anthony rolls his eyes.
'Don't worry about, man' Patrick tells him as takes it and takes a drag and passes it to me.
Our hands touch as he passes the joint to me and I feel my face blush a little. Shit. What is my problem? Who am I Molly? I need to stop this shit right now I tell myself. I can't ruin things. I take the joint and inhale and I pass it to Molly as I let the smoke fill my lungs. High twice in one day: once natural from the waves and one not so natural, How lucky are we? I think to myself. I snap back to reality as Molly coughs on the smoke. We all laugh and I ask her if she's okay. She nods in-between coughs.
