Chapter: 60
The next couple of weeks fly by getting ready for having people over before prom. Jen and I went dress shipping and I think I found the perfect one. I tell Patrick to get a light blue jacket and that's all the hints I have given him. Jen is going with Anthony and I think something is going on with them cause they have been spending a lot of time together. I hope they get together because they would be perfect together. Patrick and I go shopping for alcohol for the party and pick up some finger foods. Jack has been doing amazing and Patrick has just fallen in love with him. He's the best dog dad and it makes me happy for the future.
I turned in the evidence for the crime scene and my dad was super proud of me going there and investigating further. I'm just glad there hasn't been another murder cause this needs to be solved before anymore people wind up dead. It's hard to focus on anything else besides the case but it's hard not to want this thing solved. School has been going well and for the most part we are being left alone but of course Darcy, Katie, Dave and Molly are still making comments about both of us.
The day before prom I have been cleaning all day with Patrick who seems off. Every time I ask him about it he just says he's fine but then acts the same. We haven't had sex in 2 weeks and it's very odd for us. Every time I try to get things moving, he makes up an excuse. I'm just feeling uncomfortable and kinda alone, for the first time since we started dating.
The next morning I get up around 10 and Patrick isn't in bed and I walk into the bathroom. As I take a shower, I just can't help but cry cause I feel like I did something wrong and he's not telling me. I am drying off and I put on some white lacy underwear and the white dress I wore on our first date cause it's easy to move around in while getting ready for prom. I walk into the kitchen around 11 and I see flower petals on the ground.
'Babe?' I call and no one answers.
I follow the petals through the dining room and outside. I open the sliding doors and I see that the petals go part the pool and down the path. I follow them and they take a left turn before heading down to the deck. This is a new path, because I've never been here before. I walk on the grass for a few seconds and I see Patrick standing there surrounded by thousands of wild flower bushes and plants. He's wearing some black pants and a white button down that's untucked and unbuttoned with my 'J' necklace on.
'You found me' Patrick says taking my hand.
'When did you do this?' I say looking around.
'The last couple of weeks. I had some help from Julia and your mom to make it perfect. I wanted to make it feel like our meadow with all the flowers.' He says and I smile.
'It's perfect' I say.
'Jo, I have never met anyone like you. You're the most beautiful, funny, caring and brave person I have ever met. You have changed my life forever that night in the meadow. I promised I would bring the wildflowers back and this is just the start.' I am full on crying now as he talks.
'I promise to love you forever and I will spend the rest of my life creating flowers with you, if you'll have me' he says dropping down to one knee and taking out a small black box.
'Holy shit' I say and Patrick laughs and he opens the box revealing a gorgeous ring with a large diamond in the middle and two diamonds on both sides, that are sitting on a gold band.
'Marry me, Jo?' He says and I nod and he stands up and kisses me and twirls me around.
'I love you so much' I say and he sets me down.
'I love you too, baby' he says and he takes the ring out of the box and slides it on my left finger next to my promise ring. 'God, it's gorgeous' I say looking at it.
